When you block someone or they block you, you cant see their comments in chat room but you know they are badmouthing you cos friends send you the chat page. obviously when no mod is in there. now i can understand blocking i.e. messages etc., but if the block is applied in chat surely it should be applied in the forum as well. doesnt make sense. i can appreciate in messages yes but chat and forum should surely have same rules

Yeah, but you clicking the block button doesn't block them from doing anything other than messaging you. Do you want the block button to block them from doing anything?

If someone is badmouthing another site user in chat a mod would ban. If there is no mod in the room I would hope your friends also reported the profile to admin who would deal with the issue accordingly. I think I'm right to say this would be the same in the forums too.

If the block also applied in the forums, then threads would be difficult to follow, and what would happen to a post if someone quoted the blocked persons post?

This has been discussed many times before, the forums would be disjointed and would cause many more man hours sifting through who's blocked who so the comments made can't be seen by the blocker

i suppose but with blocks in chat its disjointed. I just wondered, I dont mean for proper blocking when your getting harrassed and abused etc., but when ppl block "cos its a follow the leader or their mates" then it gets childish. I think blocking of abusive messaging one thing but cant see why it should happen in chat cos ppl should be grown up enough to just ignore the people they do not like
