Picture security READ

I have been in the chat room and discovered that all the pictures that you have in your profile can simply be right button on your mouse and copy, you can then do what you want with it. I copied a picture and pasted into a word document on my local drive to prove it. I for one will be removing my pictures and I question the security of this whole site now..... BE WARNED

North of The Wall - youll need your vest

Thats not new news Im afraid...

The sites FAQs say this:

Why don't you right-click protect our photos to stop others stealing / saving them?

We believe in being straighforward with the members of Fab. Right click protect doesn't work and gives a false sense of security by pretending to "protect" images. Other sites may pretend they've protected your images but actually they're being dishonest by claiming that.

Right click "protect" can be gotten around in under 2 seconds by any of the following methods:

Simplest: Goto File menu, Save As, and save to desktop = The photos will be in a folder on your desktop that your browser has created.

OR... Disable JavaScript by going to Tools menu, choose Internet Options, Click the Security tab, click Custom Level, scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list and click Disable. Right click can now be used to save images.

OR... Press print screen and the image + page will be copied to clipboard where it can be pasted into a graphics program for resize or save.

We give you three privacy options on your photos and we now hide images from anyone who isn't a member of Fab. If you are worried about someone stealing your photos you may want to set them to be viewable only by your friends, or private in which case you can send by private mail.

We also now watermark all photos upon upload.

The only way to stop someone saving any pics that are uploaded to the web is not to upload them at all...

Any image posted online can easily be copied/duplicated by someone who can view the page that the picture is on.

This is true of every website on the internet, regardless of any claims or reassurances that website may offer.

Fabswingers includes in it's Terms and Privacy Policy the the fact that this is possible with images on the Fabswingers site.

If you have concerns about who can access your images, you are of course free to simply remove them, or alternatively, move them into Private or Friend Only pictures, that way you can control who has access.

Any pic on the internet can be lifted

If you are worried then you're doing the right thing by hiding yours

I sometimes wonder if people know what the internet actually is. And what others use it for.

I find the naivety of the OP absolutely mind boggling. Does ANYONE on here actually think that a picture anywhere on the web is "private".

Apart from the morons who still have the copyright warning/Sydney University nonsense in their profiles?
