Just a passing idea, and not sure how easy or practicle it is. However, what about having the hot photos limited to one of each profile at a time. As it works just now once a photo is hot users will then look at the other photos on the profile, and prob' fab them too, leading to many off the same profile. Limiting it to one would help spread the appreciation a little I think.
