Automatic filters for single female profiles

Jump to newest

It's been mentioned a few times on various threads.

If single female profiles had automatic filters set so no-one could mail them, it would stop the shocking amount of mail that new women get.

Automatic filters with an email from admin explaining how she could set the filters so she gets mail from the people she wants/ that fits her criteria.

For new people, it's not that obvious that filters exist. I think they may get an email about it as a new user (can't remember) but that is soon lost in the avalanche of mail from desperate men.

What's this shocking amount of mail that gets sent?

I think it's a fantastic idea. A good friend of mine joined and left because of the ridiculous amount of mail she received in the first few hours (850 - in around 5 hours. Hadn't got round to telling her about the filters but by then her mind was made up about the site and users) I am sure it happens to every new female. An awful lot of preditory single males on here pray on fresh meat!

Perhaps have all the Filters set to be On as default, for everyone...?

And a clear note sent to all new users, how to reset them...?

If I am able to get a quick message in to a new member, I tell them to put their filters on otherwise theybwill be swamped.

I guess they are usually already under an avalanche of mail by then...but some do message back their thanks.

I think that's a great idea,as opposed to filtering out what you don't want, you must filter in what you do,should be for everyone not just single ladies.

But even then, they will want singke men. They will open Pandora's Box and be washed away byba testosterone tsunami.

Maybe a message would help, but who resds those ?

Why ban single guys? Feeling sorry for yourself?

Some couples and single ladies actively seek single guys.the way the site is set up at present ,single guys can contact ones that don't want single guys,as its obvious many don't read profiles,or if they do they just ignore.the way suggested by the op means folk can set their filters for what they actually want and not what they don't want.

I don't see this thread a single guy bashing thread.

If a person is to lazy/ignorant/naive to use filters then you cant blame the guys for messsging.

Well maybe not naive, which is why I try and let them know.

If the filters were all on, at least they would have to get some knowledge and have some control of their profile.

Great idea OP. The first time I joined I had no idea about filters and had so much mail that I deleted my profile within hours. The friend who recommended the site then told me about the filters and suggested I might want to hide my profile for a few dsys till I got used to the site. Best advice I had

O o O oo

I think ( but not 100% sure ) that a page comes up with tips when they join....plus if you havnt filled in your criteria a highlighted sign comes up at the top of your mail page that you don't have blocks on with the people you are not likely to meet.

Yeah and I bet they'd moan if they never got any mail. Blame us single men for everything, lol

Yeh they were all single men offering to smash her back doors in. The sort of attention all women want! She had no pic on and minimum profile. I just wonder how many other women are scared away by men that really can't help themselves.

All the other sites I've been on didn't have message filters. No doubt the filter page came up when I joined but I was probably too busy worrying about the rising mailbox to figure it out. I only realised about the filters when I read the forums. If that makes me stupid/ ignorant/ whatever, fine by me.

It's not a single guy bashing thread, quite the opposite in fact. If new women weren't bombarded by mail in the first hours/ days, they might actually stick around. As it is, some of the single guys scare them off. So less single women for them to mail....

Either this should be the case for everyone or no one.

We're all adults if you can't manage to find the message filter option then there's not much hope.

Same here! When i first joined It took me a while to even realise there were filters. I think a post you put up informed me that unticking you preferences removed you from searches. Valuable information to have but for some too late. I think women join here unsure of what to expect. To be welcomed by the preditory males is not nice. Surely the preset filters is a good idea for everyone. Women may actually stay then.

I can see where you are going but its not rocket science seeing the filter button and looking and reading it after all It must be easier than reading messages.

to be honest, i've been here 4 months and it's taken me about 4 months (of being on here a lot) to get my inbox manageable, using filters, blocking, and just learning how to delete messages quickly when i have the time.

i don't think a filter would help with all that.

I had a mix of both too
