How about you disable right click. Im fed up to the back teeth of finding my pictures appear on other sites and people pretending to be people they are not by using other peoples pictures.

How about you disable right clicking like other sites to protect your users from fakes!!!

Right click disabling is a fallacy as a protection against image theft.

I build sites for a living, and can tell you there are at least 5 ways to get around right-click disabling, that require nothing other than the page to be open and the image visible. (I won't list them so I don't give people ideas)

Anyone even slightly determined to steal a picture can and will do so even if right click is disabled.

The simple fact is, there is no way to stop someone from taking an image shown in their browser.

on Fab, all images get a watermark along the bottom when you upload them, this can be edited out as well, so if you really want to at least reduce the amount of "steals" is to add your own watermark across the whole image using an image editing program.

Why don't you right-click protect our photos to stop others stealing / saving them?

We believe in being straighforward with the members of Fab. Right click protect doesn't work and gives a false sense of security by pretending to "protect" images. Other sites may pretend they've protected your images but actually they're being dishonest by claiming that.

Right click "protect" can be gotten around in under 2 seconds by any of the following methods:

Simplest: Goto File menu, Save As, and save to desktop = The photos will be in a folder on your desktop that your browser has created.

OR... Disable JavaScript by going to Tools menu, choose Internet Options, Click the Security tab, click Custom Level, scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list and click Disable. Right click can now be used to save images.

OR... Press print screen and the image + page will be copied to clipboard where it can be pasted into a graphics program for resize or save.

We give you three privacy options on your photos and we now hide images from anyone who isn't a member of Fab. If you are worried about someone stealing your photos you may want to set them to be viewable only by your friends, or private in which case you can send by private mail.

We also now watermark all photos upon upload

The easiest way round a right click protection is simple cut and paste, I take the monitor and a good pair of sturdy scizzors and cut out the picture, although it does cost me a fortune in monitors

We know exactly what your talking about (Chris is a photographer) however the process involved can be quite a drag and would cut down on those that just right click and save...you should know what im talking about regarding process.

was just an idea as im really fed up of finding my images posted elsewhere, that is because its so simple to right click

Yes it's such a drag to press one button...print screen

Copying a picture is anything other then a drag, it's so simple my cat has done it walking across the keyboard.

If you don't want your pictures potentially copied and used elsewhere....don't upload them to a website...that's the only sure fire way to protect them.

Watermarking of photos is another myth.

Readily available editing software , including free software, will remove water marks within seconds. It can take less time than typing this message.

I'd say the best way to protect your photos on here is with the private gallery option,that way you can make sure only genuine people you trust can view them

Simple solution!

Only upload shit, blurry pics that are badly taken.

Nobody will want them then!

Seriously though - if it's on the net - it's up for grabs. So don't post anything you wouldn't give a toss about if it was 'borrowed'. Keep face pics 'vanilla' and private. And hide distinguishing features such as faces ( obviously!), tattoos, birth marks, scars etc, and don't post pics where the background is easily identifiable - such as obvious features of your house or your one of a kind custom bike/vintage car.

Common sense rules in the world of pic posting.

forget right click.. how will you protect against print-screen, or camera pointed at the screen !!!

Watermark - add a couple different ones to your own pics or add blur.
