the admin question.

It appears lately that there have been several threads about "how to contact admin".

Are the contact links visible enough?

Once admin have been contacted people often post that they have sent multiple messages to them on the same subject.

Would it be worth admin having an auto reply message similar to the one you get when you become a site supporter. This message could outline what is often said in the forums e.g. admin will look into it, this takes time, you won't necessarily get feedback from them and if it's a problem with another user block them.

What are your thoughts?

I thought so, but do you think the contact links are clear enough?

Norwich

Maybe if Admin replied it would save a lot of the multiple messages and free up a bit of time?

Mind you, having seen some of the threads where people say "Report them" for the most trivial of things I expect a lot get sent straight to file 13.

Well my thinking is that admin have to deal with a lot of reports, some being multiple reports from the same people demanding things being sorted "now".

Now in guessing these people are feeling stressed and anxious and need acknowledgement of their concern. A result of this is they will do multiple reports followed by a forum post.

Its a waste of time contacting admin about anything , they never get back to you

To be fair at the moment they do say they don't get back to people so they are being clear about it.

http://www.fabswingers.com/articles/FAQ#no_response

Having said that....they do answer a lot of things from the contact button even if it is to steer you to where you can find an answer.

See this is part of my point, they rarely get back yo people and this is clearly stated in the FAQ's but many people can't be bothered to read them.

Maybe a link to the FAQ could be put in an auto reply message?

we do agree with the op, it would probably cut down on a lot of people sending more than 1 report ect to admin if there was an auto answer?? there are lots of profiles on here that help the site run as it is intended by reporting the things that should not be on, so a very basic reply would be a reassurance

I think if this could be done it would save some people starting threads on it ( probably not all though )

PS the downside of that though is it would probably just move onto to threads saying " why don't I hear whats been done to a report"

Not on the mobile site.

To be fair easy isn't if it was there wouldn't be so many posts in the forums asking how to do it.

However maybe it could include a line that says that they won't hear what has happened?

. "

The message that is displayed on the screen after you have reported someone says that now and it says we have recieved your feedback.

Having it in mail instead I still think is a good idea, but you have to still hope people will read it as a lot don't at the moment going by the amount of threads that get started about it

Very true and we know few can read given the constant rants about not reading profiles

Indeed ruby you have hit the nail on the head, will people read it? All of the information is there already but seems to get missed.

My theory on this is, often people who report a problem to admin are emotive, maybe angry or upset maybe even panicked so they often don't think with a level head and go into rant mode.

Maybe an auto reply will work and maybe it won't.

Just hope to free up some time for admin so they have time to play
