Is it not possible to block people's forum posts?

Like you can block in chat and never have to see what they say, it would be lovely to be able to have the same function in the forums

hiding from cock pics.

I agree although I understand the reasoning why not....

It can make the thread disjointed if some replies are missing.

If it was done properly, and the post still remained, but the content was removed and it saying why.. then it wouldn't matter.

A block, should be a block site wide.

But I mean it's just not seen by the person who's blocked the poster, everyone else can see it

So let's say I've a person on block. That person can't see my profile, nor what I say in chat, but can see my forum threads. Same as I can see theirs.

I feel that if you block someone then it should be a total block across the board. No contact at all

I've been on other forums with this in place and while its a sound principle it never works in theory. Threads become disjointed and impossible to follow. As long as the basic rule of not using the forums to circumnavigate blocks is respected I'm not sure there is a need anyway.

Only for the person who has blocked the person posting, no one else is inconvenienced

It's a daft idea sorry.

It wouldn't work.

Say someone posted a question, something basic like say club opening times.

A response is made, so no one else answers, thing is, the person that responded is blocked, but doesn't know they are blocked so the original poster cant see the response... but everyone else can.

You would have to click on every single poster to see if you were blocked.. to see if it was worth responding.

That and we use the forums, sometimes, to see if someone we have blocked is attending somewhere and then decide not to attend.. meaning we can use the forums to avoid those we would rather not meet. (Ie fab socials)

But the person who has blocked them would never see the op in the first place

This is something that works very well on another discussion forum I'm on. When there's someone who you constantly clash with, and threads end up turning personal because of the clash, it's simply easier to put that person on block, and carry on debating with everyone else. They can't see your replies, you can't see theirs. Everyone else can, threads still move along

Half the single women on here have couples profiles, some of the single men have couples profiles, half the couples have single profiles, so really unless everytime you block a profile, unless you know for certain you have blocked all the profiles they have, the theory still doesn't work.

People on here should be mature enough to just ignore others, airing dirty laundry or using the forums to get round blocks is against site rules anyways.

So there shouldn't be any personal clashes.

We block a lot of people, not because we have found them rude or abusive personally, but often from something they said on forums. Just because we have used the block to stop them sending a pm in the future, doesn't mean they have nothing of relevance to say on the forums. And if a member found themselves excluded from forum posts, setting up a new account takes seconds.... meaning you would have to keep blocking the same person over and over and over..

If you dont like a certain poster or thread avoid it

If people are using the forum to get around blocks then report them, it's against rules.

How do people cope in real life when there's no way of blocking people they don't like?

In a crisp poke on the A814

Dont agree with this...

I block people for many different reasons!

Mainly because they are out of my preference for meeting...

Doesnt mean i wont banter with them in the forums or that I have no interest in anything they have to say...

If people use the forum to ask you to unblock or put you on the spot about blocks then that isn't allowed.

Anyone can answer a post put onto the forum even if you have them blocked or they have blocked you.

I think it would be good if once you've blocked someone, you can't see their forum posts, can't reply to each other etc. Like Facebook but on here but other people can still see all thread posts

Why can't people just be adults and ignore posts from people they have blocked?

It's easier said than done when they post on everything that you do and announce they are going to the same places etc it's worrying

without sounding unsympathetic or sarcastic, but maybe you shouldn't post where you're going in the Forums.
