We've made a change today so that all photos are again available to attach via private message (rather than first 50).

To attach a photo you now need to click/tap the "attach photo" link. It means you won't see the photos unless you choose to attach one.

Feedback welcome

Just noticed that, incredibly brilliant as then if someone looks at your phone, for example, they cannot see anything until you click to attach photos!

Hi, at what point do you see that error?

e.g. clicking on reply to a message

e.g. pressing "send message"

e.g. pressing "attach photo"

Thanks

Good idea for mobile.

However, for desktop can one assume that a) the internet speed is quicker, so download time is less of an issue, and

b) Requirement to be discrete is less of an issue.

I send the majority of my messages from desktop, and it's now an additional click that slows the process down. It would be good to distinguish desktop vs mobile with this functionality.

My 2cents

I think they mean, messages linked and threaded by username not single subject threads. This would also appear in your inbox as a single link instead of each individual message.

Spot on. Much cleaner when you aren't attaching pics. More discreet for mobile and laptop use. Easier to make deliberate decision to send pics rather than inadvertent.

The extra click is neither here nor there and the change should speed things up in other other ways.

If you mean group messages by username and then when you click on it get all messages to or from that user, then I really like that idea..

as you can't navigate pages, it would also help with messages dropping off the bottom of the page.

A whole 'click'. Just think of the seconds you must be losing each day..

We love it, much more discrete.. obviously we've got time to spare.

One last thing.. don't know about anyone else, but we don't send picture attachments with every single message we send anyway, so the tiny inconvenience of having an extra step some have mentioned when we actually do is easily outweighed by not having your personal pictures flash up on your screen when you just want to send a quick reply on the bus at 7:42 in the morning..

Agreed, a couple of seconds per click amounts to 2 hours a year if sending 10 emails with pics a day. Not significant, but not insignificant either.

Millions have been spent on website UIs to reduce the number of clicks a customer has to go on with their journey. Adding clicks - however small in realtime - is often bad form for modern web design.

Just surprising and against the trend, that's all.
