sorting/multiple friends list

I'd like to be able to sort or split our friends list by options that we could maybe name ourselves. i.e. people we've met, people we chat to, social friends, undecideds, definite yes, ......you get the idea!

if we could name our own options we could have various club names to show who we meet where.....the options could be endless and my examples vague...it's early lol

as the list grows and the messages drop in its hard to keep track and as a couple checking in independently we don't always know what the others thinking!

Or just have a smaller friends list? Do you need to keep those you rarely interact with as friends? You could use the hotlist? Or as burgerman suggested, the private notes?
