To Report or not report

norwich ish

Over the last few weeks we have noticed an increase in single guys sending us messages with pics of other people in them (normally women) and whilst not identifiable it is still a red flag and probably illegal. We have now taken to reporting all messages when pics attached are not solely of the member sending the message replying to tell them they shouldn’t be sending pics like that and then blocking.

Just wondering if we are in the minority in bothering to report to admin?

Bit like in the kink community I think it’s important that the community is kept safer by reporting concerns to admins/event hosts etc so they can judge impartially and decide on the appropriate course of action.

Is it against the site rules if the person is clearly not identifiable? Don't think it is although I might be wrong. If so what are you reporting them for? I can see how you might not like such pictures and it does raise questions of consent but Fab make people tick a box saying consent given when uploading pics so not sure what they can do.

PS why do you think it is illegal? Isn't it only illegal is no consent given. I have one or pics in my private gallery of me with others but absolutely got consent and she uses the pics as well with my consent.

The Terms:

"“Intimate Image Abuse Content” means any image, video, audio, likeness, depiction, link, request, threat, offer or other Content that involves or appears to involve nudity, partial nudity, sexual activity, sexual posing, intimate body parts, private acts, voyeurism, hidden-camera material, upskirting, downblousing, cyberflashing, non-consensual sexual material, or any real, edited, manipulated, AI-generated, synthetic, deepfaked, face-swapped or otherwise altered intimate or sexual depiction of a person, where consent is absent, unclear, withdrawn, exceeded, misrepresented, coerced or incapable of being validly given."

A male profile cannot prove that consent has been given and vice versa a female profile (less message us so don’t know how common) and yes that includes couples profiles involving a third party. So it goes against site rules.

Why could it be illegal? Because if the person photographed doesn’t know the image is on here and hasn’t consented to it, it is.

This is where a tagging feature could come in really handy but probably a bit late and only really viable for verified accounts.

Yes but if the account holder has ticked the box saying consent is given it is in line with site rules unless proven they've lied. So in normal cases not against site rules de facto. If I've uploaded a pic including you saying you've given consent and you report me and say you haven't that would be against site rules but you can't say all pics involving others are against site rules.

Ditto it could be illegal if the person hasn't consented but we have to say they have. You would have to prove they haven't to say it's illegal. If ever challenged I could prove I have consent as I've got WhatsApp messages to that effect that we are both happy with pics being used by other.

Basically unless you've got strong suspicion or proof that no consent given (realistically only possible if it is you in the pictures) then just creating unnecessary work for Fab admin by reporting.

Perhaps Fab should just ban any pics involving others. I can see that as the only other option other than the current system relying on trust. Sure Fab have had lawyers look at this to cover themselves.

I think the pictures sent with messages are most concerning as they don’t go through admin as far as I am aware and don’t have the same tick boxes.

Given recent reporting Fan has to be seen to be squeaky clean, and their initial response was to take down pics involving others before the “consent is given” box was added

Yes you still have to tick that box for pics sent with messages (although yes probably not checked by Moderators) . I get the concern but don't see any other options unless Fab bans pics involving others completely or unless the third party in the picture complains themselves.
