Negative Verifications

There should be a way of giving negative feedback. I’ve had a few meets in my time where someone was very unclean, lied about themselves or was disrespectful during the meet. Not always things that justify a full profile reporting (sometimes, but not always).

I accept it would need very heavily regulating to avoid spamming.

It would be impossible to regulate but extremely easy to abuse.

But if they've lied about themselves before or disrespectful what makes you think they wouldn't lie or be disrespectful in verifying you negatively? How on earth would Fab admin police that? Even if possible it would involve a lot of extra resources. Would you be prepared to pay for that and see Fab not free and substantially more expensive?

I've been thinking on this one myself.

First, if in person meet verification were changed so you either select unplanned (ie random meet at a club) or planned (meaning you've needed to exchange a few messages.

I think if you set it up that you can ONLY do a negative or neutral verification, if you're specifying that it was a planned meet, and the algorithm/bots (or even mods to start with) can see that at least 4 (for example) messages have been sent between the two parties (back and forth, not one way).

If its not something a bot can check and a mod would have to check each, you would set it so you upload the conversation, meaning the mods can be sure that a meet was planned.

Mods are volunteers, whether forum, photo or chatroom, not paid staff.

Do you really want random people having access to your messages?

And just because messages are exchanged it doesn't mean a meet took place.

Not giving a verification is a negative verification of sorts.

You can already give a negative verication. But no-one does because no-one is going to display it

Any sort of negative review system will always be open to abuse. There is no way of checking what anyone says is true.

If someone let's you down or is abusive etc report them and block.

Somewhere in Norfolk ask :)

Impossible to moderate. Lots of our meets have been discussed over mobile numbers or similar as we have spoken to them on the phone so those messages or even the telephone conversations are impossible to prove.

If we have had a bad meet we just don’t verify them and then block them.

As said previously in another thread our idea of a good meet might not fit what someone’s else’s idea of a good meet is so in the same fashion our idea of a bad meet might not fit someone else’s. Attitudes change around different people, people gel differently. Someone may seem standoffish and rude to one person but be really friendly and smiley to another.

Even verifications we have and see on other people’s profiles we take with a pinch of salt and the only thing a verification can prove is that it’s a genuine couple who turned up and not just a single woman or single man pretending.

Bad meets happen, bad dates in the vanilla world happen, bad days at work happen. But then so do all the good.
