Single men and cock pics.

I'm not sure what fab can do about this. But we are sick of single men sending unsolicited dick pics.

The law is quite clear on this. Cyberflashing is a specific criminal offence under Section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Punishable by Up to two years in prison, An unlimited fine and being placed on the Sex Offenders Register.

The Online Safety Act places strict duties on tech companies. Social media platforms and dating apps are legally required to use automated detection tools to proactively catch, blur, or block these images before they reach a user's inbox.

Now to be clear, we actually want to meet single men. But we shouldnt have to worry about every time we open a message to be confronted by a man's meat and two veg.

It's difficult to imagine any sort of rule that would prevent this from happening while still allowing the sort of naked pictures that many people of all genders want to show on their profile.

I'd imagine that this site would not be covered by the law because it's clearly a sex site, so by signing up you're effectively agreeing to see pictures of naked people.

Maybe turn off all images when reading your messages?

There is a difference, posting photos to your profile is one thing. If you are looking at a single guys profile you expect to see it.

But sending it too someone in a message is a different kettle of fish.

There is also to the cliche stupidity of it.

So yes anyone who sends an unsolicited dick pic should have their profile deleted at a minimum.

"If it is against the law, which it is,

Because when you register, you accept a term saying that you may receive inappropriate content, and that if you do you can try reporting it to admin and/or the Police, but if that doesn't work then your only option is to leave the site.

And the Police probably can't be bothered, because it's a sex site.

The key parts of the legislation:

"A person (A) who intentionally sends or gives a photograph or film of any person’s genitals to another person (B) commits an offence if—

(a)A intends that B will see the genitals and be caused alarm, distress or humiliation, or

(b)A sends or gives such a photograph or film for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification and is reckless as to whether B will be caused alarm, distress or humiliation."

Think it can quite easily be argued that the sender is neither intending to cause alarm or distress not getting sexual gratification from it as it can be claimed that they are simply sending it for information purposes.

When the law first came in, we didn’t receive any unsolicited dick pics. But now the number of single guys sending them with a one word message is on the increase (2 already this morning).

This suggests that when the law was passed, people took note and stopped, but now they are ignoring it because nothing happens. Unless action is taken against these people it will just go back to how it was.

Highly unlikely someone sending a dick pic here would ever be prosecuted. The public interest test and evidential test would be challenging. Were the complainant the OP, the fact they have photos posted on their profile and have stated they're looking for men would undermine any prosecution.

I agree it's an issue, but it's easily resolved if you're offended by it. Either leave Fab, or, do what we do, block single men and then pick and choose who you correspond with.

Some thought provoking comments, which raise more questions.

Does it make any difference if the person you're talking to has naked pictures of themselves on their profile?

Does it make any difference if you're talking to a couple rather than a single?

Does it make any difference if the photo is of your whole body naked, rather than just a photo of your dick?

Is this a difference between swingers and non-swingers? If you've spent some time at a dress down club then naked dicks lose some of their ability to shock...

The difference is quite simple, if you choose to look, that’s very different to an unsolicited dick pic.

For example, We don’t make anyone look at our profile and we don’t send pictures without asking for consent first

"The difference is quite simple, if you choose to look, that’s very different to an unsolicited dick pic.

But if your argument is that by clicking on your profile then someone has given consent to seeing whatever sort of photos you choose to post, couldn't exactly the same argument be used to say that you've implicitly consented by logging into a sex site?

Look, I totally understand that a lot of guys on this site are complete dicks, and that a lot of them prove it in their first message, but would the site somehow stopping them sending these pictures really improve your life? They'd still find other ways of proving that they're dicks.

And for me, one of the defining features of being a swinger is that you're not offended by other people's genitals. We shouldn't lose site of the fact that this is a site primarily for swingers.

I agree with some of the points you make, yes it is a swingers site, dicks will still prove they’re dicks and we shouldn’t be offended by other people’s genitals. I wouldn’t say we’re offended by them, but when a first message is just one syllable and dick pic from a profile that has nothing of any substance on it, should we accept that it’s ok? - that’s not how anyone would introduce themselves in real life - or even in a swingers club. So why would it be acceptable here?

What would be interesting would be to know the thought process behind the guys sending them.

No-one is saying that you have to accept it. It's entirely reasonable for you to block and delete in this case.

The question is whether Fab needs to hold your hand and stop it happening before you even see it. Whatever they do, they won't stop guys being dicks and pestering people with stupid messages.

And as someone said, don't these pictures give you a quicker way of spotting whose messages you want to delete?

Yes it is both ironic & hypocritical, you not being able to see that doesn’t make me wrong. You find a dick pic offensive as you supposedly don’t want people to think it’s what is most important but your profile pic is a dick & tits pic FFS! Stop with the “illustrating our dynamic bull” You clearly think your tits & dick are what people want to see therefore are most important to you.

You’re missing the main point we made, the vast majority of the messages we receive like this are from profiles with the bare minimum of information on them. These are not people who are true swingers, these are faceless people who send pictures of a dick and that is cyberflashing, so yes, fab does need to do something about it.

But it's not cyberflashing. Read the law - it's only illegal when the intent is there to offend or shock or they're sent for the reason of gaining sexual satisfaction. That simply wouldn't stand up when sent via a site like this.

We all know that they're either (a) misguided and genuinely think that their dick is important when we think about who to meet or (b) actually getting their rocks off by knowing people are seeing their dick.

Unfortunately it's only (b) that turns it into an actual crime and it's impossible to prove.

I wanna join in on this thread it seems quite entertaining.

I think there are women/couples/men/trans who do enjoy receiving the partial dick pic in their inbox. I don’t believe out of the thousands of people who join this site are all on the same page or agree with one another about it. You’re all going to have different opinions on the matter.

Also let’s face it we are all average looking it’s not like we have the good looks of a celebrity is it. Sure there are many beautiful people on this site.

But with saying that, it does make me question if there was a celebrity on here who is good looking, how many of you would except a dick pic of them rather than seeing their face? Or would it not matter because of their celebrity status.
