Someone I've been regularly chatting with for a while has not been on for 3 weeks, yet my last unread message has disappeared and the last communication has been marked as read but they haven't been on in 3 weeks. Odd!

Unopened messages will get deleted from both the senders sent tab and recipients inbox at around the 3 week mark. I don't know why it happens, just a quirk of the messaging system.
