Newly posted photos seen by blocked accounts

Am I correct in thinking that newly posted images can be seen by blocked accounts?

And also that images set to friends only can also appear in the public feed for a short while?

Hopefully I'm wrong on this as it would seem a huge breach of privacy otherwise.

When you upload a pic, you appear in the new photos section. Unless then you upload you immediately set them to private to then sort out where you want them once they've been approved.

I'm sure someone will come along and say I'm right or wrong

But if I upload, I set to private first, wait for approval then decide

If you upload to public new pics, every account will see even blocked ones I think

If we upload one that is set to private or friends only then it should remain just that. It shouldn't appear in the public feed at all.

I'm hoping an admin can clarify this.

"Private and friends pics stay private and friends only "

So pictures set to private or friends only don't appear in the public feed and they can't be seen by accounts that have been blocked?

Only your friends and any private pics you send to someone will see them yes.

1st question, yes they can be seen.

Second question, no. Friends only pictures don't appear on the main feed, the same for verification pictures.

From the answer given by rugby_123 that isn't the case.

Admins - sorry to belabour the point, but is there any time when any of the images we upload can be seen by accounts we have blocked?

"Not if they are set to friends only or private no"

So if they are set to public people we can block can see them? Is that correct?

People we may have blocked for safety or privacy reasons can see our pictures if set to public?

Is this all the time or just when it is in the new pictures feed?

Need to clarify because this is a massive red flag for personal safety no matter what.

That's not the point. If this is the case then the owners of Fab are showing a startling disregard for the privacy and safety of its users.

If we, or anyone else, have blocked an account - perhaps because of stalking behaviour - then that account should not be able to see *anything* of our account whether it is set to public, private or friends only.

If you upload a picture with the setting as public then it can be seen on the new pics section by everyone including those you have blocked. If you upload with the setting as friends only or private it cant be seen by anyone else.

It all depends on what you click when uploading it.

If you upload as private first and then after a day or so change to public it wont come up in the new pics list as it wont class as a new pic.

You shouldn't have to do this. Blocked should mean blocked.

I'd like a forum mod to confirm this please.

It's the same within the forums if you have blocked anyone they won't be within the forums

When a photo gets uploaded and you've set public it is visible to those who you have blocked in the new photos but they can't see your profile

I'd like a forum mod to confirm this please."

What do you want confirming?

All blocking does is stop them seeing your profile. They can see any pics posted as public when they go on the new pics section amd they can still see and reply to your posts on the forum.

If they have also blocked you they can also see any status updates and your profile pic from their blocked page.

That's what I said. It doesn't appear if you upload to your private gallery

They already have done. Photos set to friends only or private on upload won't appear in the new pics list and therefore can't be seen by anyone (except friends if set to friends only).

It looks like others may have answered this for you which is fine as they are trying to help, but as I am not 100% sure of the answer I will find out

I think because it's not been chosen as public/friends should remain as a default private. But also if those who have been blocked shouldn't be able to see any new photos

We can confirm blocked people can definitely see new public pics the only way to avoid it is to set them as friends only

Don't share anything you don't want seen

There's nothing to stop a blocked account setting up a new account to view your profile.

If there's an issue, report the user to Fab.

Lots of people are saying that it is the case on here and in DMs.

It would be appreciated if you, or someone else linked to fab, could confirm if it is the case.

I don't know the answer as I don't often block people but labouring the point and keep bumping this up until I get a an answer will not get it any faster.

In the meantime there is advice on the FAQ's and T&C's about any content you upload on the site as others have mentioned.

I will update once I get a definitive answer.
