"For those out of the loop, like me; on July 24th 2025 any social media platforms that share adult content will be required by UK law to use one or more ID checks for user access. Failure to implement these checks by that date will result in partial/total website shutdown and/or fines. I would assume fab would go the cheapest and easiest way to navigate this and opt for third party services to do the checking and then link users back to the site once verified. Currently fabswingers hasn't made any public statements as to what they are going to do regarding this. " If they are to use a 3rd party, they will be busy with development, to ensure seamless interface and full legal compliance. Telling us before users can do anything, would probably be premature and distracting, for them and us. We can probably rest assured that they are flat out working to get everything ready in time. I'd be happy with a couple of weeks notice, before changes and that's very generous, if they'd be able to do it. Obviously, if they are dependent on other bodies, they may like them to be quicker but it will be outside of Fabs control

"It could be useful to have an open discussion to aid formulating their approach to the rules, for example to understand the sentiment of the users in respect to the various methods that could be applied. Cx" 👍

"I suppose this site would die a death wouldn't it? If people suddenly had to start uploading photos of their ID to some third party site. I can't imagine too many people will do that. " I think most regulars, especially if they use porn sites, would be open to a widespread system, that would be used for multiple sites. I can appreciate reluctance, from giving unknown sites, access to your personal data though - and I'm uncomfortable with the volume of data held on us as well as bought and sold, to anyone who wants to buy it. It's speculation at present though, as we've not seen the Fab plan.

"I suppose this site would die a death wouldn't it? If people suddenly had to start uploading photos of their ID to some third party site. I can't imagine too many people will do that. " Personally I don't have an issue with that and on a plus it may help reduce a lot of time Easter profiles here maybe? Third-party websites that do ID checks like AgeChecked, Yoti, or 1account are legit UK-based services that other sites (like Fab) can use to verify users’ age. They’re basically trusted middlemen that handle the ID part, so the main site doesn’t have to build that system themselves. Once the new law comes in, you’ll likely go to log into Fab and get redirected (just once) to one of these ID checkers. You’ll submit a valid ID (like a driving licence or passport), maybe take a quick selfie, and once verified, you’ll be allowed onto Fab as usual. Fab doesn’t see your personal ID they just get a ‘yes, this person is verified’ response and logs you in. As long as Fab uses a proper UK-based service, it should be fine and secure. And once you're verified, the result would be saved to your Fab account (or sometimes to a reusable digital ID like Yoti). After that, you can log in normally — no need to re-upload your ID every time
