Status History

A very popular social network initially had the concept of a current "in the moment" status. However I think everyone really loves the Timeline history of statuses.

Members can see a lot from a person's status, but weeping out the history losses a lot of context.

So I'd vote for the keeping of (and allowing the deletion) all statuses.

Technically this should not be difficult, an extra Db table but would bring a huge benefit.

Thoughts?

We're open to views on this

Where would it show? Top of profile? How many?

A bit too 'bookface' in my opinion. If I post a status update - it's relevant for as long as I want it up and will soon be replaced or become irrelevant.

I'd be way more interested in a direct link via profiles to forum posts people have contributed to.

This should be even easier to set up as there's already the 'green arrow ' facility next to a users name to view the last 35 contributions via any forum post - surely it wouldn't be too complex to add a shortcut to this on a users profile?

Status updates give a picture of a users current situation/opinion/feelings - but forum posts offer greater insight into a users personality !

There are not many users of the forums though. Very small percentage.

sometimes my status is allowed for over a week other times after one day its gone it seems as if it gets deleted on a whim sometimes lol would love to know how long officially a status is allowed to remain on a profile that would be a good idea if we knew

What it might do though is when people follow the link off someones profile into the forums, they find out how entertaining they are. And start using them

Good point!

And if a user doesn't use the forums then there'll be no link! So wouldn't have any negative effect at all!

i would like to make the decision to change my status myself because right now it is either left on for a week or two another time a few hours there is no consistency in leaving status on and deleting them.

I think its a great idea, if you think the status doesnt apply anymore, then you can delete it. It allows you to keep track of meets, clubs they have gone to, and thought they have had which can show what type of person they are.

I think its a good idea too. I would also like to be able to comment under friends status too. Yes I'm aware its like booker but is that a bad thing?

The reason FB is so big, is because people like it. What it would do is basically turn this into an online sexual media site.

Which to me is a great idea.

I like the 'timeline' of statuses idea, and the option to delete it if it's really too dull to keep lol. The link to recent forum posts too, with an option to hide this if you don't want everyone to see your recent posts.
