Would it be possible to add extra boxes when you receive an email so you can just click “ thanks for your message but your not someone I’m looking for” and other choices as this would help people who get loads of messages and need an easy one click reply

Thanks four reading.

Sounds like a fantastic idea. Much more polite than just deleting

Some still want to know why 😂 and want an explanation.

The issue is that any response would mean that filters applied at a later date wouldn't apply to that person. Once you respond then age and gender filters don't apply to that profile.

It would be much easier for people to accept that no reply IS a reply. If people worked on that basis there'd be nothing to worry about. Just concentrate on messages that do get a response and forget those that don't.

I really wish people would understand this. The filter issue is exactly why I delete messages rather than replying.

How are guys still not understanding that no reply, or a deleted message is exactly the same reply as what the OP is asking for 🤦

Then I have to waste time clicking a box. I just ignore unwanted messages

It's a good idea, including allowing us to create our own canned response, as the default option.

I'd use it especially with the option to immediately block. They might want answers but they'll get nothing other than my polite canned response.

Even better if you can bulk reply and delete to multiple messages and thus users

People who say no reply is a no are wrong. I mean if someone doesn't reply, don't message again. But I've sent messages before and have been ignored. But then received messages from them a while later like I'd never messaged in first place. Obviously though, when I ignore them they think I'm rude for it

But automated replies would be a great feature. You don't need to use them, but they would be useful if you do use them

"But automated replies would be a great feature. You don't need to use them, but they would be useful if you do use them"

But they would still stop future filters from working so most people won't use them.

As stated by the site in FAQ - NO REPLY IS A REPLY.

If someone was interested they would reply to you.

Not really true though.

No reply IS the reply at that time. It's a non response. No further dialogue.

Much like when takeaways drop menus through my door. I may look at them and think 'not today pizza people'. I may bin it. I may just chuck it in a draw and there's always a slim chance that I'll go back to it at some point in the future. But I'm still not reacting or replying to it there and then. I don't call them and say 'I don't fancy a pizza tonight but thanks for the menu, I might look at it again another time'.

So no reply means no interest at that point.

If I ever decided to call them in the future and the pizza place said 'sorry, you didn't reply when we mailed you out of the blue so tough titties', then i doubt I'd shed a tear.

Separate from this idea, perhaps profiles could have a field for whether you typically ignore those that message, when you've no interest.

Personally I think it all boils down to message etiquette.

If you send your boss a message and he/she/they reads it and doesn’t respond, you would think that was rather rude.

In this case I personally consider the delete option as a kind “no thank you”. They have taken two seconds (a fraction of the time to send SED message) to subtlety decline.

I believe it’s even more important to do so when you can see someone has taken the time to read your profile.

It’s like saying “thank you” to the driver when you get off the bus. You don’t have to, but you should.

It shows someone’s character.

Exactly.... And the rest messaged knowing they aren't compatible because they refuse to read, and only look/jack off at pictures

Perfectly explained!! Too much common sense to be wasted!!

I would use the option if it had an auto block after sending. That way theres no return messages about the whys and wherefores, the person has had a reply, my filters stay intact. Everyones happy?

The next complaint would be about the amount of no thanks and blocks people are getting….

They'll probably be getting the blocks anyway, at least they'll have some data.

If this feature is given to us, it should ideally have the option added to it, to simultaneously block the user . And it should be excluded from any effect on filtering that's active or would ever be implemented

A message to or from my boss is very different to a message from a total stranger on this site.

I don't message back if I am not interested because if I messaged everyone back any changes to my filters in the furure would not work.

There is no should or shouldn't about it. Not replying or deleting the message is clearly telling the sender you do not want to engage.

I honestly cannot understand why anyone would get upset with their message just being deleted.

What kind of person does?

Exactly my point! A simple delete, a block is a plus.

Opening, reading and ignoring just seems a bit rude to me. Knowing that someone has taken the time to read your profile and address you in the way you see fit.

If a particular demographic looks at my profile or fabs one of my pictures, its an instant block! Even though my filters are on and they can't message me, I make it VERY clear that I'm not interested.

Maybe I just know what I want, but it smells like attention hoarding.
