It would be good to be able to create an event (like the post a meet thing) but where you can track who might attend. This is in the context of trying to arrange a group and it’s hard work tracking who can’t go etc

Facebook have a similar concept.

Most event organisers pop details in a post in the event forum section and ask people to add themselves in there.

You can still guarantee plenty won't show up.
