Non-existent 'Security Code' at login

Over the last few days, on a number of occasions when attempting to log in, after entering my username and password as usual, I've then been presented with a screen saying 'the security code you entered doesn't match the one we showed' along with a 'captcha'-like box containing a letter/number code to be typed in, as well as having to re-enter my username and password...

....except there was no 'security code' shown on the original login page in the first place! Anyone else had similar?

I'd clear your browser cookie and reset it. Are you using an iPhone or different equipment? Checked and set security for Fab?

Yes I had it for several weeks earlier in the year but it went away. But last 2 days it’s back.

The newer Google reCAPTCHA system, v3, works out a score without you inputting anything. This score can then be used to ask for more information from the user at the developers discretion.

One of the ways it works this out is you IP address which, for most people, is dynamic. You maybe getting assigned a 'bad' one, which is why it sometimes appears for a while and then stops happening to only reappear later.

Sorry this sounds very nerdy but it would explain the issue.

Looks like it's just going to be yet another 'annoying' feature that will randomly/constantly crop up - at least, unlike a number of other (vanilla) sites requiring logins, I can currently still open Fab in a 'normal' browser window, and not have to resort to a 'private' one...

Have you followed guidance above? You've not provided any details of your set-up etc

Cookies and cache are cleared at end of every online session, and am using a laptop, running Firefox - after previously logging in (and having to go through the described process because there was no 'security code' shown initially), I tried logging back in again without having cleared anything, with the same result...

....so clearing or not clearing makes no difference...

A feasible explanation, thanks - as I have 'anti-Google' features enabled (eg., analytics blocker), might that prevent the reCAPTCHA initially appearing when I login?
