Block on distance

Wherever I lay my hat

For a future site enhancement can I request a filter so that you can block people on distance please.

My inbox is full of people from many miles away who I am never going to meet. It would be great to keep their messages out of my inbox!

A distance filter could a be a good thing and used in many ways from being being too far, to people being too close.

But how technically would a filter discern your exact location and block people from say a 20 mile radius, unless you give them your precise location to start that? Which a lot of people wont anyway. And how does it locate others to block or allow them if they don't give it too?

I find systems like that only work when everyone is on board. It's a shame though.

Assumption would be distance based on the postcode.

Sounds like a great idea, but completely restricted unlike the message filter whereas even though it may say that a user isn't looking for but ignore the warning and send. This would also be nice to be updated

Yes we agree.

We get messages from many (fabulous) people but in all honesty distance means in 99% of cases nothing will happen bar chatting.

We love sex but we're not going to Aberdeen or Penzance for a shag!

There's a gesture based on nearby so the site already knows your location.

I forgot about that as I never use it, but it's a good point, and working from that basis it wouldn't take much I suppose to base distance from it so people can use it as a filter.

I'm single so I block those that require discretion..I'm not a hidden figure or dirty secret.. I just prefer that if we get along his distance isn't an excuse. It's usually never an excuse when it's them that's horny but when a woman says it they can't generally handle the uno reverse card.

This is definitely needed, it will stop a lot of abuse too when you don’t reply or when your insistent you won’t meet them because of the distance
