How difficult would it be when you get a message to have a button next to reply that just said not interested that sent an automated message back that simply said “sorry not interested” or something to that effect.

I understand that some people on this site must get 100’s of messages a day sometimes. Maybe I’m old fashioned but being left in read is not a nice feeling and also isn’t a good indication of if the person is interested or not. A simple automated response button would save time for the people swamped with messages but would also give the other person an answer. You could also make it so that if the person pressed this no more messages can be sent to that person to stop the torrent of follow-up messages that I have heard happen.

Just an idea.

I think that's a very good idea. Like that, I do understand that no reply means not interested but I can't help constantly refreshing the page for about 10 minutes before I accept they're definitely not going to reply

Automated no thanks button would be a good idea

Not getting a reply only works if its been read and deleted, or read and not replied. Marking as unread doesn’t help the situation either

But if the person you have sent the message doesn’t read it, then how do you know they are not interested? Some many complain about how many messages they get and can’t read them all so delete them all.

It would just make an extra step for them.

If they have looked at a message and then just left it rather than delete why would they go for a no thanks button?

Many folk also mention when they do reply no thanks. It is often followed with a why?

So unless the no thanks button blocks users from messaging again I don't really see a point.

And also. The site offers filters to filter out unwanted mail. So a busy inbox can be limited if filters are used correctly.

Any kind of response to a message prevents filters from working in the future.

So a 'no thanks' to someone would mean they could message again even if their demographic (age or gender) was filtered out.

If you don't get a reply take it as not interested. Many will view a profile before deciding to open a message.

The only thing to worry about is an actual reply. Until that point...it's not worth trying to second guess anyone.

Just dont check your sent box and youll never know if it's been read or not, if someone is interested they will reply if they arent they wont

This is exactly why I don't reply to most people I want my filters to work when I use them. I don't necessarily want to block anyone but want to be able to filter when I feel the need.
