Fab Messaging Uncontactable Member on others behalf

We feel it would be a good function on Fab if the there was a facility for Fab to message someone on our behalf to say that another profile would like to wink/message etc.

We’ve saw another profile that we really like but can’t contact them due to their preferences. Absolutely 100% have no problem with this and totally agree with the reason for this but being having a facility where fab contacts that person (even an automated msg) saying that a profile outwith their paramters would like to connect with them and thereafter give them the option as to whether to accept it, would be a great addition to the site.

It would essentially bypass filters rendering filters useless.

That is my take on it anyway.

Why would you want to contact someone who doesnt want to be contacted by you? People have filters for a reason if they wanted to be contacted by people outwith them they wouldnt have them

It is against site rules to try and bypass any filters. Especially by asking someone else to do it for you.

People have their filters set for a reason. If this were allowed what would be the point of filters?

I set my filters to exclude people I didn't want to meet, as we all do.

This negates the very idea of personal preferences.

Not only would it be bypassing preferences and filters but it would be bypassing one of the site rules.

It would be no different to those who contact peoples verifications and ask them to put in a good word for them.

That's not on either.

People have their filters set up for a purpose. If they themselves decided to change anything they're able to so would be unsolicited avenue which then said users could/would complain to the site whether the accept/reject option was available

If you want you can state preferences and not set filters. Then people can still contact you outside your preferences. The filters are only used when you know you don’t want contact from certain groups of people. People think about this before they set them so they need to be respected. What makes someone think the filters apply to everyone except them. There are already plenty of people avoiding filtering by having one random pic on their profile instead of proper pics of them. The filters should be a hard limit.

I've never heard of anyone being blocked accidentally. On every thread about blocking the unanimous opinion is that there is always a reason for blocking.

Having an option to contact someone who has blocked you is just as bad as those who need to know "Why?"when you say thanks but no thanks.

Anyone outside my filters contacting me via this suggested method would be immediately blocked.

This is a totally ridiculous idea but on the upside I'm glad you are a couple and not a single guy or this thread would've turned ugly very quickly.

IMHO no one is beyond a hard filter, it's there for a reason. The options on how the filters are used by each member is perfect as it is

There’s a problem when even a block (which also has to be confirmed with a pop up alert) isn’t taken as ‘not interested’. What would be enough for some people to accept no for an answer?

I don't like this idea.

Look at it another way, it's against forum rules to attempt to contact someone through the forums who has blocked you - so your idea pretty much goes against one of the principles of the site and that is that everyone should have the ability and freedom to decide who they do and don't wish to communicate with - and this is exactly why filters exist.

What you are suggesting basically renders filters and blocking redundant - features that elevate fab above some of it's competitors that don't provide such a facility

Agreed to meet again, took their Fab name, but realised when it was too late that their filter was 1 year below our age.

So couldn't contact them.

The club is 160 miles from us so a random meet would probably never happen.

Yes it does happen and that's a shame. I've met a lady who had a 50 age limit at a party who I'd seen on Fab but never been able to message. We hit it off and met her a few times since. Luckily she found me online afterwards. The funny thing is she has her age on Fab as 53 but is actually 59/60

Preferences and filters exist for a reason and trying to circumvent them isn't right. You are not what they are looking for and need to accept that.

I already get a tonne of messages from clearly full time transvestites, who register as male to get around the TV/TS filter. I don't then want a ton of automated messages telling me that dozens of TVs, or people in their 60s and 70s would like to connect with me.

I know they would like to, the point is, I don't, and that's why I have the filters on.

I have accidentally blocked someone before. Block is next to Private note as an option, but I realised and unblocked them.

On the OP's suggestion, I can't see one thing in favour of it. It disrespects people's choices to want to not be contacted.

My preferences are my preferences. If my filters can be bypassed then what is the point of them in the first place.

I wouldn't want to contact a profile that didn't want contact from me anyway seems very odd.

I already have that option. It's my filters. I'll change them if I change what I'm looking for. I want less messages from people in not interested in not more.

I'd actually like the option for the filters to hide my profile from everyone who's not a match.
