The fact they can't close their own threads is actually a bonus because the green arrow is an excellent tool for finding tools.

Forum history can make or break a profile.

Leighton Buzzard

I actually started a thread which derailed off topic and just contacted the admins and asked them to delete it. Which they did.

A thread going off on a tangent can make it more engaging.

We don't own a thread we start.

Only in the slightly insular world of Forum. I would guess 99% of Fab members never look at Forum at all never mind go detective tracking down old posts of people.

Yes but moderators don’t close threads for going off topic. That is not against rules. If it was not many threads would survive

OP - actually think this is a good idea.

This thread is about the forum though so it is relevant and many forum users will refer to the green arrow before allowing themselves to be triggered by repeat offenders.

It's one of the best filters on the site.

Well disagree still as there will be another 99 members not on Forum for every one that sees the history but lets stick with Forum users. OP isn't I think suggesting deleting a thread but rather closing it. The history wouldn't go.

I think it can be fun and the Lounge is notorious for people chipping in and going sideways, often with in jokes and stuff that most won't understand. All part of the rough and tumble. But sometimes people are having a genuine discussion on something a touch more serious and it get widly hijacked. This is less fun especially for an OP with a genuine issue to discuss and a bit self-indulgent and "me me me" from those that do it.

There was a thread last year about bereavement. People were opening up on tragic stories and one woman and man were flirting all through it. Absolutely vile.

They have shut threads before now and do ban people as disrupting threads is against rules.
