No idea, I'm lost. Damn Sat nav!

Does anyone think that if someone has been banned either in the forums or in chat that their account should be made inactive for the time they have been banned for ?

I think it would be more of a deterant if people knew they couldnt use the site for the duration of the ban for breaking rules anyone agree ?

I think they probably should. Although having said that most people that get banned just go and create another profile for the duration o the ban and carry on so would it really work?

On a separate note, is it right to delete an entire thread when someone has been offensive or rude towards one or more of the other posters? Would it be better to just delete their posts? Just a thought

No . I think the site works well as it is. If somebody's a nob in the forum or chat then they should be banned from said place.

Cooling off normally makes me see sense but I still like a perve

well the reason why im thinking this is i know a few people who come on here very late in the evening cause chaos in the forums or chat get a 24 hr ban,go to bed get up in the morn go about their daily business then come back on the next nite again very late so in effect not really a ban at all for some.

Maybe make it 48 or 72 hours instead of 24?

Banning is an inconvenience not a punishment, as people have said if you ban them they will still be an arse when they get unbanned

I think when someone has been banned for something already, the next time they do the same thing the ban is increased,.. and so on and so forth.

Eventually something that got someone banned for 24 hours will see them unable to access that feature for say... a month. Depends how persistent the person is to keep doing it.

each time a person breaks the rules the ban time is increased .but I think a site ban for the duration would definatley make them think twice about re-offending

Despite having 2 timeouts, I do not see myself as an arse

Nor did I ever create a false profile.

Yes a time out is an inconvenience. The Mods do their job well in order to make this a better site. site As previously said maybe a longer timeout, with no mailing at all would work.

Problem with this is that if the person who is banned incorrectly how is it fair because by banning from site you cannot then challenge ban with admin.

Thats not true. There are various bans given out depending on what people do wrong to get the ban.

If however someone tots up a good few bans , especially for the same thing, then that gets upped to a perm.

PS that was fo forum bans.

For chat bans , people who tot up a few get a bigger one, then like forum bans they get a perm if they get a few.

Suggesting a change in the feedback section is not against rules.

Complaining about a ban you have recieved or someone elses ban on the forum rather than going to Admin is.

Deffinate not, what should be implemented is a route to discuss why a person has been banned, not just your banned and that's it.

If you don't get a reply then Admin think the ban was fair. I will paste what Admin say on the thread below onto the bottom of this post.

http://www.fabswingers.com/forum/lounge/98303

The forum mods are all volunteers.

Mistakes and mistjudgements occasionally do happen. We do ask that forum ban complaints are directed to us via the CONATCT link.

If you contact us about a forum timeout we will look into it. If you don't hear back from us you can assume we think the timeout is fair .

If you treat the forums as a bit of fun, you won't go far wrong and you're really unlikely to have any problems.

Closing this now, any specific mod issues feel free to contact us directly.

Admin x

Please don't make this thread about bans you have recieved. The information how to query a ban is on the above post.

No!

If they've fucked up in the chatrooms, ban them from the chatrooms. If they've fucked up in the forums, ban them from the forums but why prohibit their use of any other part of the site ..?

I think it works well as it is. Why try to mend something which isn't broken ???

"Banning is an inconvenience not a punishment, as people have said if you ban them they will still be an arse when they get unbanned

"

Then they get a longer ban and eventually a permanent ban ...

i had 2 bans in 10 days, but wish i knew sometimes why i got banned, just copy the offensive comment to me, otherwise you could end up thinking some one is out to get you banned regardless

Banning is impractical and unenforceable if you do a lifetime ban then they will only make another account. Banning via an IP address is also impractical as most are dynamic.

After reading the posts limiting the facilities such as no chat room access, read only access for the forum or stopping access to their messages both incoming and out going for a few days or week might go along way to solving the problem.

Again if the sanctions are too restrictive they'll make another account

" i had 2 bans in 10 days, but wish i knew sometimes why i got banned "

I have never been banned so don't know what explanation is sent if any, so a message saying why might be an idea

I do believe limiting access to the site whilst a ban has been issued would deter people from persistantly re-ofending

No I've seen incorrect bans given. If you can't use the site how would these people explained it and had it reviewed and rectified?
