Hi!

Both me and my partner are trans mtf and having a tough time setting up a couples account.

Surely there should be an option to have ts or trans woman/man or similar to allow for this?

Trans couples do exist ya know x

I'll be honest. I'm not sure what could be done, if anything currently.

But, I would suggest firing admin a message explaining your situtaion and maybe they may have a solution for you.

As I say. I'm not sure if anything could be done but it is worth a try none the less.

Well it could be added as an option, isn't that what could be done?

I have been trying to contact site admin but no response yet. Seems to be a topic that would rather be avoided right now from what I'm getting back.

I checked and there have been numerous posts about it over previous years and absolutely no response as to why or why not. So I'm posting here.

We are in a slightly similar position.

I would have thought it could be straight forward to allow a drop down box where you select M, F, TS, TV/CD for 1st couple person and then the same for 2nd.

Then that carries forward to the display on the search profiles.

We have a similar problem.

We have been on Fab for a number of years and still have to describe ourselves as a M/F couple.

Very frustrating.

I've also been needing a feature like this. Hope it's added someday!

We would also appreciate being able to have a trans couples profile!

We would also appreciate this. We get a lot of messages from people assuming we are a cis couple and it’s really annoying.

They also need to separate TV and TS, and also have an option for mtf and ftm. These are not all the same thing.

This should be an essential site option, as it's discriminating against people with 'protected characteristics', as defined by law.

I'd not recognised that it wasn't an option in Fab and I'm surprised and disappointed by this. Hopefully it's not a huge amount of site development work but my guess - as a non-IT professional - is that it's a smaller addition, to current site functionality.

Fingers crossed

It seems a pretty simple and straight forward improvement that could be made.

You could also explain in your bio that you are both trans. Explain your situation and preferences. Most genuine people will read the profile/ bio.

Have a similar issue where I am trans and my partner is cis. We decided to make ours a FF profile and specify that I'm trans in the bio, but it's very clear from the messages we get that the vast majority of people don't read it (or even look at our photos!) before messaging.

"They also need to separate TV and TS, and also have an option for mtf and ftm. These are not all the same thing."

People have been asking for this for years and the response always seems to be just that it won't or can't happen. It honestly feels more like an ideological stance by the site owners rather than an issue of practicality.

There are a host of practical problems with it.

Who decides if someone is TV or TS?

If it is the person, do they have to show some kind of documentation to prove their choice, or do they simply self-certify that they are what they wish to be?

It strikes me that if people can just pick, then there will be a lot of decisions that other people may disagree with and in many ways are no further forwards.

Not sure where you're getting this documentation idea from given that nobody is asked for anything of the sort when they sign up to the site.

Ultimately what you're saying is that you don't believe there is enough of a difference between trans people (regardless of gender) and crossdressers to warrant separating out the categories.

You're reading far more than what I typed.

The documentation aspect is in regards to how is it determined that someone is in one category or the other, as I think people just being able to decide themselves will lead to plenty of folk being in the position of having their choice questioned.

How would you suggest who goes in which category be dealt with?

It’s not anybody else’s place to question people’s gender identity.

I'd agree. However, we're polite people and will go with however someone else wishes to identify. Not everyone on this site will do that. Far from it.

So we shouldn’t give people the right to accurately describe who they are because some bigots will disagree?

I don’t even know what crossover cases you are referring to? Either you’re transitioning or you’re dressing on the weekend - these are completely different things.

I don't see how it's any different at all from allowing people to choose man, woman, MF couple, etc. No "documentation" is required for any of this.

And Fab has rules preventing people from misidentifying themselves in these categories.

So how would they be able to determine if someone belongs in Ts or with the rest?

I make you right. There should be more scope on here nowwedays, with so many types. Heaping CDs and ever version TS is thoroughly wrong, in my opinion.

Exactly the way they do now for every other profile category.

Self selection until someone complains that someone is in the wrong category.

There's nothing to stop crossdressers and Tv from identifying as Ts in that case and if TvChix, which allows self selection, is anything to go by, then a lot will do this.

I'm not sure that this will be a big improvement on what we already have.

Let people complain! Who gives a shit? It's already the case that if a trans woman like me sets her profile to "woman" mods will change it to TV/TS against our will and lump us in with the crossdressers. How is that fair?

The simple fact is that as actual trans people come on to the site in greater numbers the categories will have to change to accommodate that.

I can't see a situation where loads of cis male crossdressers will want to identify as FTM or transmasc so that alone would make a massive improvement (and help me find hot trans boys to hook up with )

Personal knowledge. Some are good friends and I know for a fact that they aren't transitioning, have no intention to and spend the week in male mode.

They can't do that to anyones profile. The only people who can change a status of a profile is Admin themselves.

If anyone thinks they have the wrong status then they can ask Admin to review for them from the contact link.
