Moderators and admin..!!

How do moderators and admin come to make decisions concerning threads, profiles and rude messages?

Are they truly objective as to what may be deemed offensive to others regards body image, race, offensive language, political persuation or personal profile description?

Do they consult with other members with an objective opinion regarding such things?

Who gets to say wether your whole profile for instance can be deleted by admin or a moderator due descriptive text saying " I won't meet fat folk " or " I won't meet Asian folk " ?

Who makes the decision to pull a thread?

How is such a decision made?

Just some of the questions I have...

I would love to ask a couple of questions on here, sadly I fear it will fall on deaf ears.

I posted the dictionary description of "forum" on here and it was pulled. I also received the dressed word you cannot mention for fear of getting another.

Sadly if you question anything you are labeled as a trouble causer it seems.

You need to be asking these questions in site feedback bit of forums this may get pulled because you are talking of bans and rule breaks I'm not a mod I'm just talking from experience.

i think u are sailing close to the wind mentioning forum bans , ive had a few recently and ive tried asking why, when on some occasions i genuinely didnt know why, and to no avail. when mentioned on here i got another bann, so im preparing for the forum prison food again after this thread think we all like to know how thease things are decided please

I know there is a forum rules section and assume the mods have to make their decisions based on their own interpretation of the rules set out by admin. I wouldn't fancy the job tbh. I can imagine its a damned if you do damned If you don't situation for them on a daily basis as what one poster may find acceptable another wont so you can't please all the people all the time. X

I do think it would be nice to be told why you have receieved a ban etc but I also appreciate that mods, admin and Waite owners do this on top of their own busy lives and jobs etc so accept that they perhaps don't have the time to do this.

The are a necessity as without mods and admin these boards and chat rooms would quickly descend in to slanging matches, name calling, naming and shaming, hostile places. It's a shame that ADULTS have to be censored because they can't play nice

I'm sure there are plenty of people looking at this thread hoping to get some answers.

I understand there is a page with the rules on, but you can't beat discussing them with a real person.

I really like these forums, I love the banter and the debate, I think some of the people posting are great and some not so great and there are some who would start an argument alone in a room. That is what these forums are for.

I totally understand there are topics that cannot be discussed on here but an open and honest discussion as to how admin/mods work/make decisions would be very informative.

This is a thread that's been brought up time and time again with the usual results.

It's a poor state of affairs when raising legitimate questions causes timeouts etc for being deemed an attack but I feel it's beyond due for a "Talk to the admin" thread to open.

When the fear of speaking freely is so great that it detracts discussion, then you no longer have a forum, you have a North Korean dictatorship.

Take note please and do something to remove the underlying animosity developing over time instead of ignoring it in the hope it goes away

i think we all realise that the site mods etc have a difficult job, and are essential, as as adults we cant seem to play nicely.

it would be a an idear to actualy know the reason why u may get punished or how can u avoid it again. being rude disruptive and the other reasons etc, are enough but one persons opinion on this varies to another.

u may get banned and not have a clue why as u dont feel u over stepped the mark at all, it can be confusing

How about something like once a month for one day admin open a thread letting members discuss these matters. Simply banning speaking about this topic doesn't do any good and suggesting the routine "contact admin" if you have any queries doesnt help. I've yet to hear anyone on the forums say they got an actual reply from admin, I certainly haven't.

Surely admin would like to hear members valid opinions. PS. I'd not be a mod if you paid me.

Being fair, I will happily abide by rules, I will bend, amend and adjust. The only thing I dont understand is that I am not given a reason for exclusion. I really cant make amends if I dont know what Ive done. I do appreciate the moderators and they are needed, as without them the site would not be a safe place for all, but although I would like a 'reason' for being excluded, I think that sometimes it would only open up a reason for argument which will not be resolved as everone will have different ideas of what is and isnt acceptable.

I guess, if I want to remain a member of the site, I will accept that sometimes I may say something that could upset others without me realising, and it is removed.

I enjoy the forums ( and some members) too much to rock the boat enough to sink my ship.

Not just forum rules need clarifying, I said the same about the photo rules being explained a bit more clearly.

As Ryan or Dave said

I do think there should be more mods and some of the rules should be less dubious.

Also, instead of the ban appeal going to admin, why not have a hierarchy kind if system for mods?

All bans given out have a mail to go with them. The reason for the ban is on the mail.

All bans are checked and the mod has to quote the post you have been banned for.

The mod is doing what Admin ask them to.

If you don't like a ban you have recieved you need to speak to Admin in private and not on the forum ( which says in the forum rules )

Rules are there for everyone to read, but sadly not everyone reads them even when coming back from a ban.

I will paste in the next post what Admin say what happens once you contact them.

Please note...it says that if your ban is the right ban you won't hear from them as they think the ban is fair.

To the question of profile text being removed.....Admin are the only ones who can do that...again you need to speak to them about it.

I will also shut the thread as Admin advise mods to do. If you have a problem with Admin advise then again, you need to use the CONTACT button to let Admin know your feedback.

The forum mods are all volunteers.

Mistakes and mistjudgements occasionally do happen. We do ask that forum ban complaints are directed to us via the CONATCT link.

If you contact us about a forum timeout we will look into it. If you don't hear back from us you can assume we think the timeout is fair .

If you treat the forums as a bit of fun, you won't go far wrong and you're really unlikely to have any problems.

Closing this now, any specific mod issues feel free to contact us directly.
