Profile pictures

It's probably just me but I've been here a long time now and I noticed lately the site has become quite....I don't know if 'seedy' is the right word but whatever it is, I think a lot of it is to do with profile pictures.

I logged in, just to check messages and stuff, and so many profile pics are a cock pic, spread butt cheeks or mountainous bosom. Even when there are occasionally serious topics under discussion in these forums, contributions are undermined because they seem to have been made by penises or bum holes. . Perhaps it's a metaphor for life (because the whole world is full of knobs, assholes)?.

I'm going to change my profile pic as soon as I find something suitable, even though the current one isn't all that explicit and I may also turn off all the photos because I know there's an option in the site settings to do that. But it seems kind of sad to have do that and I wonder if a blanket ban on explicit nudity in profile pictures might be better all round.

What are other people's thoughts on this?

As you've said the option is there for you to turn images off.

The fora are a tiny part of the site personally I don't think a blanket ban on explicit profile photos is something that would be popular. You've posted in the right section for admin to take a look though

It is a site of a sexual nature, so you should expect to see explicit photos.

I understood that. I still think your best bet would be to switch to no photos showing when you want to browse the forum. That's surely easier than implementing a site wide ban on explicit avatars. Apart from anything else I imagine the photo mods would be working overtime

I think people should be able to post what they want.

Some explicit content is both attractive and artistic. Yes some is tacky, but that's a good indicator of the profile owner.

Let people run their profile how they choose and if something puts you off then move on and ignore it.

Although I have seen some images that I really wish I had not,

I'd say that on sites like this you pretty much expect all that.

Maybe you shouldn't be looking in here if you're upset by these images?

This morning I logged into Fab to answer messages and there is not a single turkey neck in sight. Yes - I have turned off the photos. Feels kind of different at the moment, a bit like having sex with the lights out, but if you're like me and feel a little fatigued by the endless sight of 'policemen on duty' then I highly recommend it!

For forum use then not seeing photos doesn't really matter. But for browsing profiles and answering messages surely you want to see who you're looking at and chatting to? So if you see a message and then interest is sparked and you open the profile to see a raging boner.........what then? What if their profile pic is perfectly innocent yet when you open their gallery it's 75 slightly differently angled photos of a knob?

Wouldn't it be more logical to just block every profile with a cock as its profile pic, then you'd not ever see them more than once?

Surely it's a tad counter productive if you're actually looking to meet though.

For forum use then not seeing photos doesn't really matter. But for browsing profiles and answering messages surely you want to see who you're looking at and chatting to? It's quite literally the cocks and spread ass cheeks in the little thumbnails next to our names that irritates me after a while. I get a message from someone who uses their cock for that thumbnail pic and it's not much different than receiving an unsolicited dick pic.

It doesn't matter now anyway. I'm happy with the solution I've hit upon. Seems a sensible compromise to me.

It doesn't bother me what others have as their profile pic and I prefer to see what they want to put up rather an edited version because some people don't want to interact with people who have explicit pics.

To me a profile pic gives me an indication of the person over all along with the rest of their profile and helps me make a decision on answering messages or sending a first message.So I definitely prefer to see an uncensored version of how they wish to portray themselves . On the forums I don't care what the person has as their profile pic,it has no bearing on my response on any thread I post on.

I certainly don't get all upset by other people's pics especially given the site we are on, I think if I found that happening I would decide the site isn't for me and leave. I also don't think the site should be policed by others just to suit their specific ilikes and dislikes.

And like you said op there is the option to turn off pics if it is something that really is a bug bear for you.

In general, I agree with the OP.

Certainly, in the lounge and on politics threads, I want to see a mugshot of the poster as a forum avatar. If they are shy, then a silhouette is fine.

Somehow a rampant cock, beef curtains or a bumhole shot seem inappropriate when we are discussing topics fit for the letters page in the Times.

On forum sections more appropriate to sexual activity, then it is a different situation. Similarly, some of the topics currently featuring in 'The Lounge' should really be under 'Swingers Chat'.

One way is simply not to log in.

I am logged in on my laptop but not on the smartphone. I can read all the comments by googling Fabswingers forum but profile information including pictures is restricted without signing in.
