Regional chat rooms

What's the drill with the regional chat rooms? I'm in the Southwest, and find the SW chat room is usually full of people from Manchester, Newcastle and the Southeast.

I don't particularly mind "interlopers" joining in, but it seems to negate the point of having region-specific rooms. Might as well just all go in general chat.
