When are we going to see this function on the website?

Race preference is increasingly becoming as common as age preference and i'm sure there are a number of people out there who only want to see certain people (displayed in the search results ofc) that match their race preference.

For example, I'm a black and only want to see people displayed in the search results who meet black men. Very similar to how the age filter works

Saves the hassle of reading a profile and then writing a message (not copy and paste) to that person and then getting a reply along the lines of:

"sorry no colored or asians" - huh!?

"no BBC as its too big for me" - ?!

"sorry i only fuck bbc" - err!?

"BBC only need apply" -

"no pink/purple dingilings" - what!?!?

this is where i am on the subject...... in fact I am more likely to run the other way as it really turns me off.... so as long i have to the facility to not use it... or to block those who do.... then cool....

some people play it up... some shy from it!

see.. i don't see what the issue is at the moment... it is like you want the site to do everything for you.....

you do it for race, you then have to have a size filter, a height filter....

what next? lets ban the gingers????

No one mentioned anything about banning anyone.. It's just a filter. Ppl can use it or not use it, exactly the same way as we filter out Unverified profiles or those without pics.

Personally, I can't care less what colour someone is, but some ppl prefer/dislike certain ethnicities for their sexual partner... It's all about choice isn't it?

I was about to post a suggestion about a size filter when I read this post. This is not a political correctness site. If we are looking for a bbw or a bbc or a skinny white bi sexual chick then the filters could narrow it down. The site already has ageism filters and geographic filters so whats the problem?

I've been a member of various sites over the years and the vast majority of them ask your ethnicity when you join. This of course means that you can then search for the ethnicity you are looking for.

Whilst FAB is the best site around I do find it very frustrating not to have this search function available too and wonder why the creators chose not to include it.

We agree absolutely that it would be nice to be able to search for black guys who like to play with couples.It would save us an awful lot of time! Some sites do but none of them a patch on FabS of course!

I think it's a great idea, but it also needs a filter in the search to only show people who like your race.

Not being able to search for a specific race can be annoying, but its also annoying to read through a profile only to discover "no non-whites" etc. If there was a way to know beforehand, it would save time

Very bad idea. It will kill a certain form of interraction. Someone who is not looking for black men can still be a good friend with them. I have one of the sexiest lady on this site as friend.But she is not looking for black.

When we start excluding people for whatever reason, we end up killing this site and I am sure Admin is aware of it and won't risk losing any member

We leave it as it is now and it is up to all of us to make that effort of reading a whole profile to know what people want or just accept that they have their own criteria

Bear in mind it only gives people the option to filter. If someone is only looking for a certain race then it allows them to narrow their search just like it does on any number of types or attributes. If someone isn't looking for a white guy, they're not looking for a white guy, not having this option isn't going to change this fact.

Fab is a rich tapestry or ages, sizes and cultures, having filters isn't going to kill it in any way IMO.

By having extra filters in place, stops unessecary messages being sent, thus reducing the no thanks messages being sent, or messages deleted without reply (everyone moans daily in forums about this), with extra filters in place, surely that is a better thing, for guys in particular as there messages may get read and replied from people who are looking for what they offer once all the ones they are not looking for are filtered out.

I personally would love to see a race filter and a filter to stop married men messaging

We feel the more you can filter the better for whatever reason, this site is all about free choice and looking for what turns you on. That could be black white young old Straight or Bi, if you can search by all of these variables surly that has to be a good thing.

It means you can find the people you want and not have to turn down the ones you don’t have a connections with. This would save on those messages which read “sorry not our type”

I have tattoo’s and we get rejected often on those grounds, so a filter for Tattoos would be useful for us, and others.

I’m sure others would find age, race, build all useful.

as i always say, the irony is that a lot of the people they are trying to attract, want no part of the stereotypes, and go in the other direction....

so the filter may well find who you would be after... but it may well be one way as others may want exactly the opposite for them....

I can't control being a white female but when I do my single female profile and the filters are introduced I'll be telling the whole of Fab that I'm white and I'm female.

People that are looking for black ladies will not be pointed in my direction.

Surely telling people you are black, white asian, mixed race..oriental..etc. makes no difference, they know soon as they see a pic of you! So just because it is a box on your profile only helps others to find what they are looking for, without bothering the others that they have no interest in meeting.

We like the idea of the filter because sometimes we want to meet a black guy so a filter makes it easy for us to find exactly what we are looking for.

On the Ginger filter, why not, some people(men) like blondes, some prefer brunettes....it's another preference.

Again height , why not, H is 6'1" so perhaps would like to filter out the 5'4" guys, because they are not her thing. On the other hand perhaps guys are looking for a 6'1" Blonde with big tits.. therefore H would be top of the list

This is how other sites work you can prefer not to say, but you will not show in searches for you particular race/ethnicity.

On the white, black, mixed race etc... again there are list which could be followed, but the usual black, white, asian, oriental, mixed race etc.. would be ok.... again this works for other sites

Ridiculous! Did introducing the age filter kill the site? What you have to realise is that as the site gets bigger and bigger, additional functionality has to be introduced

Easy, you just have to list your ethnicity so people can find you based on your ethnicity, likewise you should also be able to find people who like to meet people of your ethnicity

Native American

Hispanic

Asian (East/Southeast Asia)

Asian (Middle Eastern)

Black

Caucasian

Mixed Race - Other

Yes I understand how filters work but can't see how it would work for couple profiles where the couple are in a mixed race relationship as in one white one black. A couple's profile doesn't define which one is the female and which one is the male so our ethnicity can't be tagged on to each as individuals. I'm not against the filter in fact anything that stops the occasional nasty messages when you say no to someone who has totally ignored defined preferences is welcome, just don't think it is that simple. I think this would be on two parts:

1) An opt in/opt out option for more specific filtering - similar to the "people can see who's looked" setting.

2) As far as "discrimination vs preference" (once opted in) then it becomes an issue of what can be included/selected and what gets left out:

You can select Gender, Age and Sexuality. If Ethnicity is to be considered how does this work (Searching ) for couples: both white / both black / both latino / both indian ... or the various combinations of "mixed"?

just out of curiosity, would a ethnicity filter be any different to a bmfc event... white men are generally excluded based on the people attending prefering black males. people attend because that is what they are looking for and it makes it easier for them to meet the type of people they want.

some of the people who are seemingly against the filter (and some who are for it), are attendee's and organisers of bmfc events, so i find it strange that they should be against it. after all i would imagine they would be up in arms, if someone were to claim that these events were racist and call for them to be banned? (we do not believe this should happen by the way)

if people want to meet a certain type of person, why should they not have filters to enable them to do it? after all most put their preferences in their profile anyway.

perhaps the happy medium should be that opposed from a filter that stops people of differing ethnicities contacting each other, an ethnicity search would be a better option? This doesnt stop anyone from contating anyone (blocking them), but enables you to search for profiles that would interest you more?

or just maybe... the people who have been hear longer have had time to find out that the site does give you the tools to make it, and 2 minutes is too much for someone to read a profile, the issue then may not be with the site as such....

it may also be with those who feel that everything should be on a plate for them.... no effort.. site does everything....

Its not something i would use to be honest, race inst important to me, the only thing i look for is if the female is attractive to me.

If we are filtering race why not go for body type, body hair, tattoos, hair colour, penis size, bra size..... i could go on, all these things are just as much a prefernce as people looking for a race.

You're a white man, by saying you're a white man in a filter no one that is looking for a black guy will be sent your way.

A couple will be able to say they are looking for a black guy so when you search for a couple you won't be sent to any profiles that you'll read for and look at pictures for 10 minutes only to see the final line of a lenghtly profile reads "no white men".

On other sites most of the things you listed can already be filtered.. Penis size, bra size etc, it works well, very well.

I don't, it's a great idea and along with other filters can only make site better, why waste time browsing, messaging someone, asking for a pic (not everyone has pics on profile) to find guy is not what you are looking for.

I'd rather use filters to find potential guys I want to meet and message those.

Filters would reduce the amount of no thanks emails I send, would reduce amount of rejections guys get, win win all round the way I see it

i realy dont think admin would go for any filter that premotes racial segregation as this is what you are after and its wrong on all leavels

you can not please every one and if the site got to the point were there was a filter to suit everyone then we would all have to pay site fees and there fore this would no longer be a free site

in some ways thats not a bad thing as it would get rid of some of the time waisters but would also stop alot of genuin newbies joining

The age filters don't work for couples, the age is defined by the first half of the couple. Despite me being 41 because crystal is 28 we show up in searches of profiles 25-30 but not if you search 30-45. I suspect that your ethnicity would be defined by whichever one of you is the first named.

Should not be seen as a filter to exclude rather a handy tool to help find just what you are looking for. Would live to meet more black and Asian women and having a means to quickly see those in my area would be a godsend. You can search for (note the term search for rather than filter out) just about any preference so why not ethnicity

It would be of great use to us as on occasions we are only specifically looking for black guys, and would like this to be specified in our search options. This would of course be reliant on members posting their ethnicity correctly. (Any Black guys in or around Derby area ...wink/message, its damn hard to find you..lol)

Having been to BMFC events, it's safe to say that every race is invited to attend the parties.

I've seen white men/white couples and Asian men at BMFC parties so nobody is excluded.

Just don't expect to play if the women only want to play with black men.

Some think it is broke..so it needs fixing!!!

It's not just about time, FAB has a limit to search results of 300, now in some areas this doesn't matter, but other is does, if your looking for single black guy in a large city, London, Manchester etc.. this becomes a problem, as there are thousands of single guys. So by not filtering out the white guys these fill the 300 slots on the search results and have less chance of finding what I'm looking for.

Another issue is that people are asking for the various options and while I understand admin have various task to do just to keep the site running and other updates they may already be working on, what if another free site comes along and offers these options? Will people desert FAB? Remember once MySpace was the leading social media site, now doesn't come close to the main ones, just goes to show you need to move with the times.

one condition though...

let people also have the right to block those people who decide to use the filter....

so if they want it so badly... let it come with a potential consecquence, and then maybe whilst wanting a preference, also let them know that some may not want any part of being part of someone elses "niche"

that way... all those who want to play up to preferences can play up to it to their hearts content...

all those who don't will get the message thru to those who do loud and clear.. and maybe just maybe change the thinking of a few...

theres a reason other websites dont do so well...primarily in my opinion its because they try too hard..

I think a filter letting you chose race / ethnicity would be good. We all have preferences. I think Age, Sex, Orientation, Race/Ethnicity, Interests, Area, Name, aren't to many filters to ask for. I just think it would be nice to be able to have a more thorough search.x

but then again, when I run a search and the first 5 profiles have "Sorry, not into black guy, just not my thing" or "No offence, white guys only" (neither of which offend me - personal preferences and all) I'd rather have fast forwarded to the profile that either has no issues if I'm black or not, or actively seeks. Maybe..but look at it another way, FAB has a limit of 300 on search results, which might not be an issue on some searches but can with others. Let me explain, if I wanted to find a black single guy in a large city like London/Manchester/Leeds etc, the search would just return single guys, regardless of colour, the result show guys in login order, online first then going down in time. This is an issue as I am looking for black guys what if not many have logged in recently, none will show in results, this also causes an issue for guys who cannot log in very often, they just get missed in the search results.

Again if I am being shown 300 results and 250 are white and 50 are black, why show me the 250 white guys I have no interest in meeting?

Options for limiting search results are a good thing they help members of FAB, find exactly what they are looking for, if you aren't bothered then you don't have to use them!!

They do on other swingers websites!

Your point that people may call them selves one thing and be another, is not an issue (with ethnicity) I don't mind if the person is mixed race, black African or Caribbean, as long as they are black!!!

But looking it another way when you see their pics you can make a judgement then, search filters will just miss out all the white guys from the search results. If someone who is white wants to call them selves black, they will soon be found out with an image!!!

See, (the whole race/ethnicity argument aside), how does that help people that have preferences, no matter what that preference is about?

Put it this way, I know several women that want the "6 foot plus, white, rugby build, uniform wearing" guy (none of which I am). do I have the right to "suggest" those women put aside their preferences? I'm sure that would be selfish of me.

One of the few? The large proportion dont care from what I can see. I dont think I have ever seen a single guys profile stating preference for a particular ethnicity. With women its a lot more but still large proportion are not fussed about race. Remember also that even if someone states a preference for a race, it doesnt mean that they are not interested in anything else. I get messages from people saying 'black only' when im asian. I am not a fan of the race filtering concept but thats just me

Maybe..but look at it another way, FAB has a limit of 300 on search results, which might not be an issue on some searches but can with others. Let me explain, if I wanted to find a black single guy in a large city like London/Manchester/Leeds etc, the search would just return single guys, regardless of colour, the result show guys in login order, online first then going down in time. This is an issue as I am looking for black guys what if not many have logged in recently, none will show in results, this also causes an issue for guys who cannot log in very often, they just get missed in the search results.

I would not ask anyone to put aside their prefernces if I don't fit them its all good.

However sometimes the but word comes into play.

E.g I only meet local guys normally but.

Race preference is increasingly becoming as common as age preference and i'm sure there are a number of people out there who only want to see certain people (displayed in the search results ofc) that match their race preference.

For example, I'm a black and only want to see people displayed in the search results who meet black men. Very similar to how the age filter works

Saves the hassle of reading a profile and then writing a message (not copy and paste) to that person and then getting a reply along the lines of:

"sorry no colored or asians" - huh!?

"no BBC as its too big for me" - ?!

"sorry i only fuck bbc" - err!?

"BBC only need apply" -

"no pink/purple dingilings" - what!?!? "

This depends. If:

1) The site could let users setup their own chatrooms (some swing sites have this facility) then I don't see why not - bearing in mind it will not be limited to interested parties in whatever preferences come in (yes, on said websites I've seen people who have no business in the preferences come in and start hurling abuse and derogatory comments) but that's a separate issue.

2) Is it upto admin to setup that chatroom? In which case I don't see it as a good idea - that means admin would need a chatroom for every preference going.. which is not realistic. Proximity is a preference, what happens to people who's preference is "5 mile radius from Telford" - do they get a room as well?

It depends how its done which will determine if its feasible or not.

I'm all for both filters and personal preferences!

But I suspect that should there be an increase in variables - whilst this would indeed narrow down any searches - two things would happen.

There'd be an increase in "I/we cant find anybody to meet" threads - and peoples 'preferences' may quickly start to change!

Cynical? Possibly!

But be careful what you wish for! Just ask all the couples seeking single bi fems - and then imagine seeking out an even smaller target group!

I understand what you're saying Obi, for me I would just like to be able to find bi cpls with a little more ease mate. I'm not a mail even though I don't match their preferences kind of guy, but the search filter would be very useful

Does this mean with such a filter (I'm seeking single black men) I can stop messages from single non-black men?

I get abuse on almost a daily basis from non-black men (some white, some asian, etc) who can't understand I have a preference for who I play with which excludes them, so throwing abuse at me is supposed to change my mind? As long as they don't lie about their race, can this filter stop them? I'm sure you're tired of the number of profiles/messages I report to you by now.

As well as the filters mentioned i'd like to see a new profile category called 'Ethnicity' to go alongside age, build, smoker and drinker, as it is on many other sites and i'll tell you why. Not long ago i contacted a woman whose profile looked good but had no pics and after chatting for a while she turned out to be of a race i'm not sexually interested in and it was so embarrasing to say i'm sorry but...

So with an ethnicity category in place on a persons profile you would clearly see their race and would stop that from happening again, not only to me but to others too.

We Would be delighted to have this option as we state in our profile we like to play with Single Black guys and dont want to be contacted by any other type of Single guy, but 90 percent of the single guys who contact us are other than Black,so to have a filter that only allows contact from Single Black guys would be fantastic.

Its not and never will be a Racist issue just purely a Sexual Preference.

absolutely understand about attraction, but it seems that the people who are so for this filter seem to forget in this crusade is that not all black people are the same, and for a lot of people they dont want to be seen as just a colour.... and that it turns off as many of the people you are actually trying to attract

so if you want a filter... fine, go for it, what I am saying is if you want a filter let it come with a consequence.. make people think about what they want to put down

people complain about some of the mail they get... you should see some of the stuff I get on this issue because I am not a fan....

I'm a hater apparently, not sticking up for the side, letting them down ect ect... I am big enough and ugly enough and its water off a ducks back to me...

the abuse isn't just one sided...
