Does anyone wish this option could be removed or you could opt out /block the option

9x out of 10 the replies could easily have been kept in the forum & may have been helpful to others

Or they are on such old posts you have no idea what the sender is talking about purely from the subject title

There's a few things you need to reply privately, if op is asking for advice and the advice could be against forum rules a private reply is necessary so even 9 times out of 10 the tenth reply could be a very useful one. So to sum it up no it shouldn't be removed. We have used it several times and also received very helpful messages in the past. A great feature we think

But surely they could just click on your name and message you

The fact that it's there leaves it more open to abuse by the nice tits brigade, rather than a reply of a personal nature, where someone would likely go out of their way to contact / help you anyway

To be fair, and I tend to agree but what is the difference between that button and just messaging via the profile if they feel compelled to message?

Nope it doesn’t bypass filters but is quicker and easier than visiting a profile so I guess that alone would increase the messages off the back of a thread!
