FabSwingers.com forum: Do message filters prevent people viewing your profile?

We applied some filters to cut down on the number of messages we receive. The main reason has been too many lazy messages from single men who would know they're not for us if to they'd read the profile.

The message filters appear to be working but it seems that in addition, views of our our profile have plummeted, next to nobody winks (no great loss on the whole), and hardly anybody fabs our photographs.

There's a sense that there may now be more messages from couples than usual, but we've not kept score so can't be sure.

Also, the profile now says we're not looking for single men, which we didn't ask it to say, and is incompatible with our "looking for" settings.

Is this what's supposed to happen? Thanks for any light that may be shed.

have you got men ticked on your 'looking for section' under account details?

The other things won't be an automatic result of you blocking single men from messaging

Thanks, yes we've got "looking for...a man" ticked but our profile page says "Not looking for single guys. Couples (MF) Men Women aged 40 to 60 only. Won't meet smokers". The rest is correct. Sure it didn't say that first bit before the message filters were changed.

If you have blocked men in the filters they won't show up in your looked at me lists. Maybe the single men are not winking or fabbing your pics because they can't mail you

As a man (for research purposes) I can view your profile and see public pics. I cannot message you (as indicated by the "not looking for single guys" in the "looking for" section)

My two pennies worth with regard to lack of fabs. It just shows that by filtering men out they will lose interest and by filtering men out you lose an enormous audience (mostly men on fab) Personally (normally) I won’t fab pics of people who aren’t interested in men or men of my age. Why would I, a pointless exercise. You want the adoration of males that you have no interest in? Sounds a bit self-centred to me.

You don't need me to tell you that you're entitled to your opinion, as wrong as it might be. And hopefully you'll agree that we're all entitled to express our curiousity about how things work. It's good to have an enquiring mind, ask questions and test one's own assumptions. Why you've ascribed a high value on our part to the placing of fabs isn't immediately clear.

If I filtered out 1st contact messaging from people I was interested in and it limited my experience here negatively OP, I'd probably add text early in my profile, to inform them that I maintained interest still.

People often don't read text, as we know, though it may maintain not getting blocked by them, should any be of interest to me.

I don't know what an alternative solution might look like, should fab be able to implement something, that could allow people to know of a user's interest but unwillingness to receive mail.

I cannot message you as "no single males" is stated, wither youve said that or not.
