Pop up ads

recently have started getting pop up ads for adultfriendfinder.com, webaffair.com etc when avigating between the screens.

Only started happening today and it only happens when browsing fab. my pop up blocker is on high so cant think of any reason why this has started happening unless admin have done something.

I pay my £5 a month and part of the package in that is not to see advertising.....now i am having to close pop ups every time i click on a different page.....very annoying!!

p.s i know i posted to the thread in the lounge but thought i would set one up here to.

any advice on how to stop it gratefully accepted.

Have you downloaded anything on to your computer lately? It may have come with an unwanted guest.

I'd suggest using something like "Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware" to do a sweep of your PC.

i got the same a couple of months back....i have now got an ad blocker,

which is great don't even get the ads on facebook now!

have fixed it somehow....went into internet options and unchecked a box about 3rd party extensions and now its not happening

Fab's don't use no popup adverts, they are comming from 3rd party software that attaches itself to your browser.

Yes dissabling 3rd party addons may stop them but the software will still be there and it could be spyware (google spyware).

As said run a cleaner, I use spybot search and destroy from safer-networking myself but up to you what you try.

been getting the same recently. have tried malware, downloaded other anti virus and ad blockers etc.

none of them worked, they were even coming up on the bbc news website

have just downloaded ccleaner, so fingers crossed.

Have no idea what has happened

Prob best to go into internet tools and click on manage add-ons. Then you can see whether there is any spyware in there, probably recently dated if its just started happening.

When you downloaded it did you let it search for the most recent updates then let it do a full run?

It does a good check if you do and can take 15 plus minutes.

But as I said, people prefer different things, some like ccleaner, I used to use another cleaner think it was caled adaware or something but it got sold to another comany then got shite

For anyone using Windows I can also recommend a program called HijackThis.

To make sure you're running the legit version, make sure you use the one from Trend Micro's website, under the Free Tools section.

Be careful when going through the results, as you may inadvertently cause issues if you delete or disable the wrong things. There are a few sites where you can perform an analysis of your HijackThis log files.
