Keeping forum replies to the forum

It would be great if there was an opt in/opt out for getting messages due to forum posts.

Sometimes its good as you’ve taken part in a game or people want to share things privately, you could opt in.

Similarly people dont always want private messages because they’ve been active on forums. It’d be nice in those instances to opt out.

Not where we seem to be...

Thumbs up to this suggestion.

We've had a few twatty messages from forum lurkers who use the "reply privately" button from a thread.

While it wouldn't stop the massages, it'll make them less convenient and more of an effort.

Winston

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I get stupid messages from that route. But I also get good ones, positive ones funny ones, silly ones.

And the proportions are massively in favour of the good stuff, in my experience.

So, I disagree. I do accept it's easier for me to deal with 1 every month vs some of you getting 5 a day, though.

Would be great if their was a filter option that users could use to opt out within the forum to receive private message. I think would be good to add this feature in the message settings.gives everyone a little bit of control of their profile whilst using the forums.

Shame people can't just respect forum users privacy. I may look at a profile if I like the look of the poster, and have a perv. But I wouldn't message them..

The reply privately button can be fun for forum fun threads, such as ask a question in private and reply in forum.

I agree there should be an opt in/opt out option as I have quickly had to delete some comments I have placed in forum threads when several guys have started replying privately to them.

Definitely agree that the reply in private button should be removed

You just know when you comment on some posts your inbox will be flooded

If someone wants to message you they can just click on your profile and message you. I like it I'd rather get a personal mail than have to keep checking forums. Maybe it should have the same preference as you have on your profile (if it doesn't already, I've not really used it)

Anyone sending aggressive/insulting messages should just be banned.

all loved up

I've found that many that have things to say but know that it will be seen as abuse and possibly land someone a ban, message privately

They often don't like it when you point out that they should reply on the forum.

If someone feels it important enough to message you about, they can do that in the normal way. Too often, it's done in error, because they can.

The upside of this (it's not ideal) is that some people out themselves as being inconsiderate etc. It brings to my attention people I need to block

Definitely , they'd need to press 1 extra button, now that's what I call a preventative measure. Nobody would think of pressing the persons name then the send message button.
