Privacy option to allow accounts to only be seen by "verified" users users.

So we where recently outed to family as swingers. Nothing directly to do with Fab in that instance.

However we had face photos on fab and this is where the issue begins.

We had, for many years, been of the mindset "if someone sees us on fab, they're here for the same reason we are".

Well this isn't the case in our experience.

We had selected the hidden option within the privacy settings for "Show profile to non-registered users" and we did not show on search engines. No one could see our profile without actually joining fab.

Unfortunately for us, once we where outed, the same people who outed us decided to look up swinger websites and since fab was free to join, they found us within a couple of hours (they actually bragged about it because they thought it was funny). Our photos have now been lifted from the site and shared. We will be dealing with the consequences for a while.

Now again, we do not blame Fab. We posted the photos and we where well aware it was a risk.

However, it's fair so say Fabs privacy settings are not enough anymore. People can just join willy nilly and we all know there are window shoppers on the site.

But as technology gets more accessible and more people out there can easily play amateur detective, more people can easily be tracked down.

So can we please have a few updates to the privacy options on fab. Specifically, we would like it so our account can only be seen by "verified" users. Be it photo or fully verified accounts. It wont stop an infulx of non swingers onto the site, but in our case, we wouldn't have been found had it been for that extra step of privacy.

We don't want to hide our faces (we think it makes us more approachable) but we feel it's a long overdue process. that one extra layer of privacy on fab could make a lot of difference for many users now and in the future.

Quite aware of that but this was an instance of a non fab user actively joining to the site to find our account.

If it happened to us, it can happen to others (especially now that Fabswingers is getting mentioned on other social media sites like Facebook).

Had that person had to photo verify or even be verified just to access others photos, I know in our case, our account would never have been found by them.

Point is, it was very easy for them to find us. An extra step or two, whilst keeping the site free, would have prevented it happening to us.

Again, not blaming Fab. That had nothing to do with us being outed. It just made it to easy to be found is all.

How is that relevant to the point I'm making? Asking for profiles to only be viewable only by "at least" photo verified accounts is an extra layer of privacy that the site should really have.

I do understand what you are saying but ultimately your suggestion is flawed. Because all they would have to do is photo verify and boom. They could search you.

Perhaps there could be some tracking information placed into pics that get sent like yours, detailing which account had received it, or something to implicate/indicate that a specific account has been a recipient of a pic?

My point wouldn't prevent or help the OPs horrendous situation though.

Pop an obstacle in their way like having to photo verify & theyll likely lose their erection & incentive to have a nose

& I think that's the point the OP is trying to make, while no ID is required to join FAB or view other users accounts, people will continue to join for non genuine reasons, if they have to work a little to sign up lots will give up, as they either won't be prepared to photo verify or will be to lazy to do it

I can see why this is a good idea, but for those of us without verifications, it would make it even more difficult to get a verification than it is already - unverified accounts can’t verify each other. Most people would probably choose to not be seen by unverified users

So if you dont want to hide your face pics what's with the post ?? Look at our profile we dont have or send face pics to anyone .. we have played for 15 years n been on fab near on 9 years n never been outed .. if your bothered about being talked about in your local area remove your pics.

fab won't do dick to update security settings, just maintenance to keep site running whilst keeping the tech as outdated as possible at the same time. wonder why they do that!!!genious really. you'll have to work within the confines of this cobbled together held by sticky tape website.

if someone wants to get hold of pics, theres nothing you can do....always a way. People that out other people arent liked by most, cheap, spineless not clever and are of no use or add value to the human race whatsoever. outing family as swingers is like finding out your parents had sex more than their number of kids.....you rather not know and gain nothing. someone tried it with my profile...i outed them as 'cunts' in return. annoyingly every one new anyway

I agree...also the filtering of msgs doesn't work which also means non verified users can msg or non members..the privacy on the app is shocking...our pics were stoled and uploaded to xhamster along with others from fab.

And you could still go on cam or attend a social to get verified, which is what most verified profiles would advise you to do anyway.....

I think the point is, that any extra step that someone has to take, is more likely to deter people. It's like securing your house. If someone really, really wants to get in, they will. If you've got locks and an alarm, they'll probably give up or look for another house.

Be amazing if just one suggestion was acknowledged since 2006. The reality is membership is going up. Fab.com have no interest to acknowledge, provide, implement anything at all. And this has been the case I imagine all the time other than maintenance to keep the site going because its ancient tech in an upto the date environment. Just taking individual issues with an account, ie uploading pics (could be anything) to someone having their privacy violated. This is what we do.....feedback form.... standard response it will be looked at ..... issue not resolved we're not happy, pissed off put a post about it on the forum seeking help or just to have a rant to get it off their chest, and people will listen, help, criticise, concure, relate similar. Technical issues on how to do something gets resolved because the person will be given various ways in which to do it amongst the other stuff . Changes we want made and requests for it is a pointless exercise makes us look stupid from the outside looking in because the reality is we have 0 influence but you can't take away the forum because without it there's no outlet for people to get pissed off , voice their opinions

Feel a bit better about it move on, and ultimately don't cancel the membership. it would take a lot for someone to delete their profile cancel membership!!

Agree with your idea entirely. This is a must for us all. As to the user who seems to wonder why you would have face pics on your profile and that even if they were full site members and verified they could out you, they have made a legal agreement to not do so as it states in T&C. As they are in breach of this agreement they can be prosecuted more successfully.

This. There are many users who talk the talk to get free content, inspire a wank with no intention of ever meeting people. You can search the forums to see how many people have mentioned experiencing it. Just because it might not be your thing, don't assume it doesn't happen.

This. We've seen loads where someone has been verified by obvious friends who they've not actually met and had sex thru this site. The worst and most obvious being this is a mate of mine, known him for years blah blah. Plus, getting photo verified does not prove you are on here for finding sex with virtual strangers so the defense of 'well they're on here for the same reason' to out them back, could be net with 'oh no we're not, we just joined so we could find and out you'. It's not like the veri photo has to be of a gang bang with clear faces.
