When reading a message you have the option to mark it as unread if you wish to do so, Does this still appear as unread on the other person's end??

it does show as unread (yellow), unless they click on to the message. if it's been read the word 'unread' (in small font under the sent message) will disappear so they/you will know.

If you want to read a msg from someone you have been chatting to without opening the message.. just go to send and you can't read it..
