Auto message to sender of a reported user or post

One problem you read on here is from people that have reported a post\message or user for one reason or another only for them to never know if the reported item ever gets seen or read by a mod or Admin.

Could the report message that the mods read have a report back message that they simply click to send back an auto response to the sender saying the reported item has been read by a moderator and any action if any required has been taken.

Just lets people know its been delt with and stops things being reported over and over again.

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******

Not because they are an Escort, but you should if they are an Escort using Fab to generate business.

Yes I know about what happens when you report something but what I am saying is that it often dosen't work.

Example.

I've seen in the forums quite a few times people saying they have reported something or someone for some reason that would be more than enough to have a message deleted or user banned or whatever but nothing has happened and they get told by a mod to report again as things can get missed\forgotten about, so the same thing gets reported again.

Now it may have been the mod decided to do nothing about it even though it's against site rules which I know does happen as well, but at least if the mod had a simple link to click that sends the reporting member a auto response once the mod has read the report then that would stop people reporting the same thing again.

That's a perfect example.

I messaged someone and they stated they meet for money, you had to pay for sex with them = a Prostitute using the site for their business, so I reported the message that showed the mods exactly what they we're doing but nothing happened, as far as I know their still on this site charging for sex.

When I mentioned this ages ago, a mod said report it again as it's probably been missed or forgotten about.

but if I had not got a read response back from a mod I would know for sure it's been missed, but if I had got one then I would know not to bother reporting it again.

You're missing the point totally.

I'm not saying we need to know what has happened, just that we know a mod HAS READ it, that's all.

I do get what you are saying, I am just trying to point out that if they get too many reports to deal with and it all takes too much time to send the person reporting a mail, then a mail saying a mod has read it would probably have to be generated by someone which will still take time.

You then have the added extra mails that the site would have to send, I am guessing that that would use more space somewhere ( I am not technically minded so I don't know what it uses )

For your example up there about an escort, as said in the post Admin posted, one of a few things happens when a person is reported...one of them being a warning....maybe the Escort had one? You wouldn't know wether they had so can't really say that nothing was done?

Either way you are in the right section for feedback

The message only has to be created once by Admin and set as a script which could be set to send back automatically once the report has been opened by a mod.

That then tells the reporting member that their report has been seen and read by a mod and dosen't leave them wondering if it's ever been read or not.

This HAS been suggested before, but it fell on deaf ears - or as usual people probably didn't actually understand the concept of it.

But, YES - a good idea! A auto responder script once the message/report to admin has been read - so that you know it's actually been read or at least seen (and hopefully dealt with).

Ok I am not up on what scripts are and stuff so I will take your word for it....but if a mail would be sent to every person who reported something would that not fill up the servers more if the people didn't delete it?

I don't know what you call yourselves on here but normally a Moderator is an unpaid member of the site trusted to keep the peace on the forums etc and deleting offensive material or messages with the extra options you have being a Moderator.

Admin is normally the site owner and sometimes the most trusted Moderator that has extra power that can actually ban members.

A fraction possibly but even so the auto sent "read by Moderator" message could be set to delete after 24 hrs upon opening.

It's a bit of scripting for whoever does that side of things but one bit that I feel would help members feel like their actually being listened to and would help in cutting down the amount of reports being made.

Bucks

Before we report a profile we tend to hotlist it and in almost every case we've seen action taken, albeit not always instantly - maybe a day or so later as admin has a life too - but then rereport if no action after couple of days.
