FabSwingers.com forum: Addition to Help FAQs, profile example / template.

Everyday, individuals ask for assistance on how to improve their profile.

And Everyday, the forum topics ends up with the same advice.

Can I suggest that a basic profile example or template advice is added to the help FAQs and perhaps emailed to new members. (Could see anything providing this type of info.)

It would nice to be able to refer individuals to the help FAQ rather than re-write the same spiel each time.

What's required is for people to actually think for themselves instead of saying what they think other people want to hear. We look for profiles which are different and show that the subject has actually put some effort into what they've writted. These people don't need profiles and the sort who can't be bothered will just copy profiles and content to match.

Unfortunately that would require them reading the FAQ.

The amount of posts complaining about no replies and people unaware of how filters work shows that they don't.

Maybe a simpler, more generic solution where a reminder to search for a topic first is added onto the page where you create a topic would help?

Or maybe when you enter the topic. title, a list of similar titled posts is shown so you can jump straight to them, rather than posting a new one.

It says something about a man who seeks profile advice when he is unsuccessful and no effort and clearly no research has been put into successful profiles and photos. It's just attention seeking and in some cases sympathy seeking thinking that the forum post will bring women to message his profile... or am being to hard?

I think it would be a good idea for fab to nudge people, especially newer users, into making better use of the site.

This could include nudges to add more details to profiles, encouraging them to use the forum and more.

Rather than giving them a template profile suggestion, they could be pushed towards ideas and forum profile feedback areas.
