Why is it that you can send a message to a fellow fabber and it will show as ‘unread’ for a long time and then when the recipient eventually opens the message it show a ‘read’ at the time (or short time after) the message was sent?

When was the message actually read?

Tbh it’s getting to be a paint in the arse.

Responded to a couple 5 weeks ago and they sent another message to chat as it appears my message disappeared.

Send 5 message convo with a lady yesterday.

Whole lot gone.

Have massive chunks of messages missing between 3-6 month old.

Fab knows I sent a message but why can’t it like to last one sent and received so you can read back.

If being removed due to people blocking or leaving. Why not leave message but replace the read replied to user left or user blocked. We are adults and far easier to understand facts than just disappearing

Left comments for improvements but no replies.

It least you know they are going to reply when they can.

This is interesting. I've had a couple of conversations 'disappear' and thought I was being slack and had accidentally caught the delete button. Apparently not!

I too have noticed that a batch of messages sent out between 3 and 6 months ago have mysteriously gone missing somewhere into the ether!

Is this a site Admin clearout to free up more space or what.

My concern is that having sent a message in the first place & presumably was read, even if it was a social message to new contacts, I have to A) try to recall what message I sent & B) another approach now, could well hack off the recipient!

If it is indeed a clearance of the system, could it not be a better option for the Site Admins to issue some form of advance notice (say, 4-6 weeks) so we all have a chance to act accordingly?

Some I now know to be people leaving.

But I have a large batch where I see we have messaged in profile but can’t find it and I know I have not deleted and some I have tried to save yet still gone.
