From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. Such use was given Parliamentary approval in 1908 when it was stated that "the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag". ;-) | |||

"I don't mean to sound anal but it's the Union Flag not a Union Jack. Geeky I know but ha ho Already answered on previous thread. According to the Flag Institute, the vexillological organisation for the United Kingdom, "the national flag of the United Kingdom, the Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories is the Union Flag, which may also be called the Union Jack So it can be either... On the original point....I suspect admin may have other priorities to continually update the flags.. Just rejoice in what we have....and also bear in mind this is an international site too. " Kept quoting wrong post...lol As is an international site...could we also have a Canadian flag for each of our...oh...ummm..1 gold medal? | |||
