"Liking" option/button for status and/or profile

Similar to the liking of pictures, I think it'd be nice to be able to "like" a status and/or profile in general and send the relevant notification to the profile owner, rather than just a generic wink or sending a message to tell them (which some people might be reluctant to in case it starts a message ping pong they'd rather avoid).

The resulting action wouldn't even have to be visible to others (in order to avoid "popularity contests"). Just the notification to the owner would be enough.

Just a thought

That would be a good evolution, I would support this.

Great idea. Can't see why not and should be fairly simple to do

I'm no tech wizard, but when you look at the features we have in place at the moment, I'm assure the OP suggestion could be easily enough implemented. Good Idea I say.
