Does auto remove box actually remove???

I tick this box most times after adding pictures to my messages, and my pics are still on read messages hours later

Does it actually work??

It always worked for me when I used to be a site supporter, but obviously there can be glitches, as I've noticed other features that occasionally fail.

Unfortunately though it's a bit pointless anyway in these times of smartphones where you can take a screen shot.
