It would nice to be able to get an email notification when you receive a verification.

What purpose would this serve ? We already get a verification notification on our home page on here , you can't miss it when you log in

Yes true. Maybe they shouldn't bother with notifications at all, and make it all a lovely surprise for you when you log in
