Inconsistencies

A female friend of mine recently met someone she was led to believe was a couple. The profile had pics of a both the male and female. She exchanged some pictures of her own with them and eventually met them.

"They" turned put to be "he" and there was no couple- just the male. She decided not to meet them again and felt rather foolish at being duped and rather than report him, she put it down to experience.

When she told me, I looked at his profile and noticed the female photos were new. They were of my friend- she had sent the same ones to me and there were distinguishing features like tattoos that made it obvious they were of the same person (no faces shown). No permission was given to publish these pictures.

Surprisingly, one of the photos was a screen shot of a picture from my friend's Fab gallery! When I told her she was understandably upset. She asked if I would report the profile on her behalf, which I did.

I checked the profile today, yo see it still there, with only the screen shot removed. The others were still there, even though it was obvious it was the same person as in the screen shot (tattoos, etc).

Not sure why the moderators have been so inconsistent here. It's clearly the same person- why remove some photos and not others? How did the screenshot ever get approved in the first place? Even if he claimed the pictures were of his partner, Fab knows its from a different profile and that the details don't match. This man is still masquerading as a couple, using her photos without permission.

Your friend should report the profile herself.

"Your friend should report the profile herself. "

Yes I agree, but she doesn't really want to as the whole affair has left a bad taste in the mouth, which I can understand.

Foes someone get any kind of ban for so blatantly using an image taken from another profile(screenshot)? Its as blatant as it gets.

If your friend reports the photo mods can compare the profiles. Don't forget that they're all volunteers and occasionally mistakes will be made.

My next post will explain how admin deals with reports.

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******

O o O oo

Your friend can't really complain or have you complain on her behalf if she doesn't want to report it.

As the other mod said, the person themselves need to report the other profile to be able to deal with the report.
