Fake & Copied Pic

Noticed a few people complaining about their pics being copied from here and used elsewhere.

To workaround this could the site have 'right click' disabled on pictures? I think i've seen this elsewhere. Obviously not full prove but mite deter some and it is a fairly easily coded fix.

An additional option would be to add a watermark to each picture that gets loaded - the watermark could include Fabswingers and the user name faded into the centre of the picture.

I appreciate a link appears at the bottom of the picture but this is fairly easily cropped out

Determined users could work round this of course but we can at least make it harder for the fakes

Why don't you right-click protect our photos to stop others stealing / saving them?

We believe in being straighforward with the members of Fab. Right click protect doesn't work and gives a false sense of security by pretending to "protect" images. Other sites may pretend they've protected your images but actually they're being dishonest by claiming that.

Right click "protect" can be gotten around in under 2 seconds by any of the following methods:

Simplest: Goto File menu, Save As, and save to desktop = The photos will be in a folder on your desktop that your browser has created.

OR... Disable JavaScript by going to Tools menu, choose Internet Options, Click the Security tab, click Custom Level, scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list and click Disable. Right click can now be used to save images.

OR... Press print screen and the image + page will be copied to clipboard where it can be pasted into a graphics program for resize or save.

We give you three privacy options on your photos and we now hide images from anyone who isn't a member of Fab. If you are worried about someone stealing your photos you may want to set them to be viewable only by your friends, or private in which case you can send by private mail.

We also now watermark all photos upon upload.

If you have photoshop or similar smoother the pictures in you own watermarks..

The moral of the story is this:

If you don't want your photos pinched, don't put them on the net, or at the very least, the ones that you do use, make sure you cannot be identified so if they get pinched, it's no big deal.

People can hack into banks, the US Government etc etc etc, so depite all efforts, it's a peice of piss to nick a photo and always will be, regardless of measures put in place by the site.

Unfortunately disabling the right click feature means nothing mate. You can still save pictures on that page by going through your Internet page options and saving them that way

plus people still have the option to print the screen (and therefore getting the picture) - fair play for trying to help though

Right click disability can be bypassed in seconds through a hundred different methods, from disabling javascript, to saving the page code, to saving the picture with separate software. Also, disabling right click is a nuisance.
