Compared to a lot of mainstream sites the fora on here are very basic in terms of functionality.

It would be good if you could receive alerts when friends or people you've hotlisted have posted something on a forum. It would also be good to be alterted when someone has replied to one of your posts.

The same goes for the chat section - it would be good to get alerts when a hotlist/friend is in chat.

True - to be honest I think a lot of fora (sorry - grammar nerd alert - I know...'pedantic wanker' lol) use off-the-shelf forum software which can be customised for the specific client so it ought to be relatively easy to get a completely new system set up.

Mainly React/JavaScript based web apps but I have experience implementing comment functionality which is the same concept as... fora.

I'm on the design and artwork for print side, which is a lot less tecchie (wish I knew more about programming but there's always too much to learn).
