My understanding is that if someone you have hotlisted views you or does some other update, that will show for you.

Same as friends updates (dependant on their settings as not showing on looked at me still stands) but you won't be notified if/when you are added to a hotlist ,

If people were notified of being added to a hotlist it would kill the feature for many that use it and not everyone uses it the same way.

I personally use it as a hot list, a not list and an 'keep tabs on/maybe' list

As has been said however not all members use their 'hotlist' for the same reason so basically the other person might be using it as a 'do not meet' list which I would imagine defeats the object of this suggestion

Surely the sensible soloution to this would be to also have a not list.

It's not an issue requiring a solution. If you are interested in someone OP send them a message. If they are interested you will get a reply.

Its an issue in as much as it is a barrier to implementing op's suggestion and this suggestion is one that appears regularly.

Irrespective of that, although the hotlist might work as a not list it seem illogical that the many people that operate a not list have to use a work around rather than a simple soloution being implemented.
