I have had a few pics refused after initially being accepted recently saying I had to block out the face of the lady in them. I did this blocking their face in full reposted as was accepted only to be rejected a few days later. Why ?

It is possible that the pics were mistakenly approved and later reported.

But if you feel that a mistake has been made use the contact link and ask Admin to look into it for you.
