A change in how many events to be posted

Hi all

Admin have decided a small change to how you can use this section of the forum. As most are using it this way anyway this bit won't be too different but from today clubs can have two events listed weekly and their hosts they use to advertise can have two between them too. So four in all.

Still no phone numbers or outside links though

There is going to be a limit to how far in advance you can advertise a club night ( obviously the yearly events won't be included in this ) so a question for the next bit how many weeks before the club night is a good time to put the advert up?

It depends whether it is just a themed night or a specific event as to how far ahead it should allowed to advertise.

Some event organisers only run the event every couple of months so might need more build up than say just an Easter themed normal club night.

Personally.. A month No real reasoning behind it but gives people plenty of time to arrange cheaper hotels etc

Personally would always try to put up events 4 to 6 weeks in advance.

Thanks for the update.

I would say 4 weeks. The forum can get too messy otherwise and it's hard for guests to find what they need x

Also, could you please clarify the private party situation?

We have people who are not Townhouse hosts who hire our venue for their own private party. So it is not a Townhouse event and has nothing to do with us. So can they still list their parties? So I'm thinking the likes of Allure and Sam n Dave's House party. They are not Townhouse hosts and they hire the club. Surely they should be able to list their own party and not be restricted? Our venue is just 4 walls to this party which is completely controlled by the hirer

Clarification would be appreciated please so we know exactly where we stand and proof of hire can be provided if necessary.

Thanks

We post/host events so I suppose to add our preferences... we list three or four weeks in advance. The only events we would list longer would be niche events, which bring people from further afield therefore giving them time to plan.

If people are posting for club events in a club it will all count in as 4 a week. If a member is hiring the club for their birthday etc then they can post that one in addition to the four, but they are few and far between

ok so birthdays are ok and private hires are ok. Would it help if I listed the people who are not hosts but hire the club for their own private parties on our profile somewhere so you have it as a quick reference? x

Not really, as I said, only a private party that isn't commercial is allowed, all others come under the club banner

I only host every 12 weeks so 4 in a year

But would like to promote 8-6 weeks before by posting on here ???

Liberty elite don’t post much on here so I don’t think this new change will effect liberty,

If I’ve read it right, (I’m a typical blonde)

We only really do one event a year (the camping one), and need to start getting people interested at least 6 months in advance, so they can book time off work etc.

Any other clubs have a timescale they like to stick to?

North West

There should be a distinction between a Party night and an “Event.”

There are some events these days that are on a completely different level to a regular advertised Saturday night Party night at a local Club. Events that are attracting hundreds of people are very different to Party nights where three or four Club activists (or owners) are doing their best on here to pimp up a regular weekend party night.

“Events” ought to be able to be advertised much longer in advance because people will take more time to get themselves organised for big events than a regular party night.

I have said this before, but I think this whole section needs an overhaul. Even though limiting events listed and the timescales of such will help, I think the way in which this section is 'organised' isn't very helpful for the readers who are trying to make sense of what is out there. Lumping all clubs, events, parties etc...nationwide in one section is really hard to read with some parties being completely lost in translation.

Stoke area

Can I suggest that everyone uses a similar heading to include

Date.

Place.

Name of event in the title.

"Mary's birthday, 13th March" is not a lot of use to most people.

The Lake District

I know most swingers don’t plan so far ahead but if I want to go to a weekend event I need to give 4 weeks notice to get time off work

So 4-5 weeks

4 to 6 weeks.

What about events that are already up? As they may amount to more than 4 in total and might not expire for a while?

I think they mean no more than 4 new events listed, not including ongoing events previously listed.

K.

But here is another idea worth floating - would it be possible for clubs to be charged a higher membership and let us have a page that is just events?

We would be happy to pay a reasonable higher membership fee for such a facility.

I suggested this exact thing direct to Fab and on their recent Google Survey that got released. No response to the idea so I guess it's not feasible?

They wouldn't be touched, it will only go for the ones started after an agreement about the timescale

One more question if I may?

We also advertise events on our profile - nothing would change there?

Would it be possible to have the ability to edit or amend an event once it has been posted - for example if you miss some information off or spot a typo. It would be fantastic if we could pop back on & amend it if required,

rather than asking admin to delete so you can re-post

Think 6 weeks would suit most as some monthly events are not bang on 4 weeks due to the way the days are in the following month.
