xtasia's charity night - dec 13th

_tasia has agreed to host an evening dedicated to Cancer and Organ Donor Awareness on Saturday 13th December. Its a fancy dress optional night with the theme being 'doctors and nurses'. Half the door takings as long as your name is on the guest list will go to the Macmillan Cancer Support and we will also be encouraging as many guests as possible to join the organ donor register throughout the night.

We are also suggesting as its close to Christmas, all guests bring along a 'present' suitable for an adult or child stuck in hospital over Christmas with cancer. All children's presents will be given to the Birmingham children's oncology and haematology ward and all adult presents will be given to the Georgina unit oncology and haematology ward at Russells hall hospital. Let all join in to bring a smile to someone's face!!

If you cant make that night but would still like to donate a present _tasia will collect these for us throughout December.

Normal club rules on membership and entrance fees apply on the night.

This is a couples and single females event only. (sorry guys, but if you wish to donate or get on the organ donor register, please contact _tasia direct)

On a serious note though it's amazing how many people come into hospital without toiletries and little things like that, to be honest I think even the smallest of things would brighten there day

We've actually supported a few Charities over the years and i would LOVE to be involved with this worthy cause too

As you're aware, i currently have 3 brothers who are now thankfully in remission

I know that with some cancer treatments, the patients skin become dry and sore

So moisturisers (non scented, lip balms, hand creams etc maybe useful

Also, gift vouchers - so that they can spend them when they feel better

Scented candles - for when they are at home and need to relax

Slippers - practical and not very imaginative but VERY useful (plus these days most come in small / medium and medium / large)

Books, CDs, DVDs, Magazines ....

Theres a few suggestions

Even pound land do some good things colouring books and pens , books so you don't have to spend a lot it's the thought that counts...

Seeing how many visitors only get a chance to come our way monthly, or even quarterly, we're going to start collecting stuff as from now. If you have a present to bring along, and don't wish to hoard it away until Christmas, feel free to bring it and we'll store it here until December. Maybe do a nice big display tree at the club so everyone can see each others generosity.

As for gifts for adults, I work in a hospice and to be fair anything would be gratefully received by the patients just to give them the knowledge that someone is thinking about them

One thing I find is popular is those little scented diffusers. Also a lot of people that have had radio therapy have sensitive skin so body products that are suitable are welcomed.

Distraction games are ideal - such as those little mind bender games. Also things like adult colouring books as again the patients find it a relaxing and good distraction.

Plants, pretty pictures, photo frames - anything to make their room more theirs during their stay.

Couple of updates, we now have a sponsor for this event, so expect a few surprises, and also forging ahead with aChristmas tree, so we can all watch the pile of pressies build towards the event. We won't put it up until Nov though, lol. Also, can we ask folks to wrap the presents, and put a label on to give the nurses an idea of whop the present is for, ie "Adult Male", or "10-15 year old girl"....otherwise it might get very confusing.

As for gifts for adults, I work in a hospice and to be fair anything would be gratefully received by the patients just to give them the knowledge that someone is thinking about them

One thing I find is popular is those little scented diffusers. Also a lot of people that have had radio therapy have sensitive skin so body products that are suitable are welcomed.

Distraction games are ideal - such as those little mind bender games. Also things like adult colouring books as again the patients find it a relaxing and good distraction.

Plants, pretty pictures, photo frames - anything to make their room more theirs during their stay.

just a quick note

ive spoken with the fund raising team at birmingham childrens hospital and they have assured me that they will make sure that the presents go to the oncology unit and the dialysis ward for the children.

They mentioned that they usually get donations for between 3 to 10 year olds so if anyone willing to bring presents would be able to think of something for younger than this or a teenager, that would be great although he did also say that the number of babies that they have stay in hospital are a lot lower than any other age so it may be better to go for presents for teenagers to make sure they get good use, even something small would be appreciated. Were not asking for expensive donations, just something to put a smile on their faces

"_tasia has agreed to host an evening dedicated to Cancer and Organ Donor Awareness on Saturday 13th December. Its a fancy dress optional night with the theme being 'doctors and nurses'. Half the door takings as long as your name is on the guest list will go to the Macmillan Cancer Support and we will also be encouraging as many guests as possible to join the organ donor register throughout the night.

We are also suggesting as its close to Christmas, all guests bring along a 'present' suitable for an adult or child stuck in hospital over Christmas with cancer. All children's presents will be given to the Birmingham children's oncology and haematology ward and all adult presents will be given to the Georgina unit oncology and haematology ward at Russells hall hospital. Let all join in to bring a smile to someone's face!!

If you cant make that night but would still like to donate a present _tasia will collect these for us throughout December.

Normal club rules on membership and entrance fees apply on the night.

This is a couples and single females event only. (sorry guys, but if you wish to donate or get on the organ donor register, please contact _tasia direct)

Yeah you do need to be a member, you can fill the application form in on the website to save time at the door or you can do it there, from what I remember you have to take photo id I.e passport or driving license for you both, I don't think we had to take anything else but if you pm Paul he'll let you know what you need xx
