"One things that this last few weeks has brought home to Tag and I is that although we are 'Clubs in Competition' with each other we are more often than not 'Clubs in Opposition' to each other. There are lovely kind and caring people in every venue in every club in every corner of the UK (indeed the World). They work hard every week to bring to you your 'playtime'. And if they can make a living while doing so then they can turn that playtime in something magical. As a Client a Customer and Punter (whatever your lilt) Please think of that sometimes. Cat and Tag XX" So true, and has been good to chat and help each other over the last few weeks. All the best to you two, and other club owners during this period.

"Can I make a suggestion for you all, that may help trade, and may help punters. Have you ever thought about having a "group share scheme" , eg: we have settled on AE as our club of choice, due to localish but mainly as its our taste (not dress down, music our taste etc.). However, we often go away for weekends etc.. so maybe, lets say, if we were in Yorkshire, if there was a "this club is affiliated to AE and "members of AE are welcome at reduced cost" , we would look at attending, knowing the club would be of similar style. Maybe you cannot, but it may be worth thinking about" This has been mulled over in the past. The problem is that all clubs run differently with regards to membership and who can attend on what days. For instance we have a restriction of 8 guys on a Saturday and they must book in advance. Other club don't have a restriction and I think the pricing is quite different across the board. So we couldn't have guys pitching up saying they are a member of 'X' so they should be able to come in! We like to choose who comes in! On the flip side, we have events where guys and ladies/couples are all charged the same. It wouldn't be fair to ask other clubs to do the same if it's not viable. I also wouldn't want to give a reduction in entry just because you are a member of another club and pay full price there! Why should the other club get the full entry and we take a drop, just because of an affiliation? We have been around the houses on affiliate programmes over the years and there is no 'one fit for all' method, so it has been dropped. Thanks for your suggestion though! Clubs love proactive members who suggest stuff rather than moan about how things should be done! ![]()

"Love this thread. One thing I've learnt over the years is that it's better not to see others as competition and treat them more as being in a similar business. I've often had business passed on to me and passed business on to others due to capacity, specialism, timings, etc. It works a lot better than trying to undercut or 'out play' the 'competition'. We're regulars at Townhouse but we are also members and visitors of other clubs and there is room for them all. We don't feel we're in the minority either. Different clubs offer different experiences and some will suit each individual more than others and favourite or home clubs will emerge for people but that doesn't have to be at the exclusion of visiting others. The great thing is to see how people are coming together and supporting each other at this pretty crappy and uncertain time. Hope all the clubs survive and thrive after this is all over, variety is the spice of life after all ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
